When we deployed our first floating solar platform in a Maldivian atoll in 2014, "offshore solar" wasn't really a category yet.
Twelve years on, Visit Maldives has written a piece about how floating PV is reshaping the country's energy mix — featuring SolarSea at Cheval Blanc Randheli (2.4 MW, ~USD 1.5M/year diesel savings) alongside our wider deployment across more than 50 resort islands.
It means a lot to be featured by the Maldives' official tourism authority.

🌊 ☀️2.4 MW of floating solar powers Cheval Blanc Randheli in the Maldives — the largest PV array of its kind at sea in the Maldives. An estimated USD 1.5 million per year no longer spent on diesel.

You don't build something like this without a team and a shared vision. For over a decade, through tough weather and months on tiny islands with nowhere to go, 150+ people across Austria and Maldives kept showing up — because they believed this could work. Our latest SolarSea project is now fully commissioned at Taj Coral Reef Resort & Spa Maldives 🌊☀️

The 1,060 kWp floating solar system, combined with a 1,200 kWh grid-forming battery, allows the resort to operate up to 11 hours per day without generators — significantly reducing diesel consumption.

A strong step forward for island energy.

At the close of 2025, we commissioned a 1,180 kWp rooftop solar system at Finolhu – a Seaside Collection Resort in the stunning Baa Atoll 🌴☀️
This system helps the resort save around 460,000 liters of diesel and cut down 1,200 tons of CO₂ every single year.
