Light, comfort, and elegance define this mixed-use project on Apollogasse. A stepped volume wraps around a landscaped atrium, stepping down from six stories at the front to three at the rear — maximizing the site while respecting the neighborhood. Retail at ground level, offices overlooking the courtyard, and 63 residential units above.

All units feature their own generous open space, combining brightness and comfort with clear, practical layouts.

4 x 4 Der Holzpilot. Im Rahmen des 1. Wiener WohnBAUMprogramms fördert die Stadt Wien gezielt Wohnbau in Holz- und Holzhybridbauweise. Unser Ansatz: ein flexibles Wohnquartier im Baukastensystem.

Das gemeinsam mit entwickelte Projekt erfordert im Lebenszyklus einen geringen Materialaufwand, kombiniert materialgerechte Bauweisen mit einem innovativen Energiesystem und schafft langlebige sowie wandelbare Raummodule. Die Grundstücke am Naufahrtweg und der Aspernstraße (22. Bezirk) sowie am Orasteig (21. Bezirk) wurden mit unterschiedlichen Typologien in Gebäudegrößen von XS bis XL bespielt.

Sichtbare Holzfassaden und natürliche Materialien sorgen für ein harmonisches, unaufdringliches Gesamtbild. Dabei wirkt das Holz nicht nur nach außen: Auch im Inneren entsteht eine angenehme, gesunde Wohnatmosphäre – getragen von warmen Materialien, gutem Raumklima und durchdachten Grundrissen.

A construction Kit as prototype | 4 x 4 The Wooden Pilot

Modularity in architectural design and varied, diverse design do not have to be mutually exclusive. In the case of the wooden pilot and its prototypical building block principle, contemporary, innovative solutions to the idea of sustainability are met in addition to aesthetic and qualitative requirements.

The developed construction kit allows for four-by-four-meter space modules to be so assembled as to establish, aside from flexibly structured residential units, urban-design settings of highly different scale: from single and multifamily homes (Naufahrtweg) to nature-embedded residential quarters (Orasteig) and to landmark starter-apartment complexes (Aspernstrasse).

A dated 90s office building reimagined for contemporary living

Conversion instead of new construction was the guiding principle of this project in Vienna’s 9th district. Demolition was never an option, working with the existing structure while adding architectural value was the primary goal.

Most units are oriented to both sides of the building, ensuring good cross-ventilation and providing space for balconies or small terraces.

In designing the street-facing façade, special attention was given to its appearance, taking into account the colors and materials of the surrounding buildings. Altetnating patterns made of light gray clinker brick slips give the building’s frontage a clean, classically structured look.

Time for a before & after
As spring greenery is emerging everywhere at the moment, we’re sharing a small archive throwback to our Wolfshof residential project, completed in 2017.

The complex consists of two new buildings, a renovated wing, as well as an existing building. Its vivid center consists of a large patio which invites to dwelling and relaxing: Seating islands alternate with raised beds for the community and neighborhood gardens. Nearly a decade later, the green concept stretches over trellises on the facades to the balcony areas.

Time to settle in!
We’re happy to hand over the keys today for 360 subsidized rental apartments to the future residents of ROTE EMMA.

ROTE EMMA is not only a pioneer in large-scale timber-hybrid residential construction, but also stands for a vibrant culture of community living: The range of services extends from a kindergarten to the local adult education center , as well as initiatives such as .point – mobility services, LOK (Verein LOK), and the ro*sa women’s housing project, a women-focused housing model comprising 44 units.

A special milestone for everyone involved, and especially for the residents who will soon call this place home.

Geförderter Wohnbau in der Puchsbaumgasse. Ein Quartier der Vielfalt.
An der Kante des ehemaligen Ankerbrot-Geländes in Wien-Favoriten ist mit dem Quartier Bienvenue ein vielschichtiges Wohn- und Lebensareal entstanden.
In Kooperation mit M&S Architekten und transparadiso sowie in enger Zusammenarbeit mit sozialen Partner*innen wie etwa dem neunerhaus wurde ein städtebauliches Konzept entwickelt, das in sieben Bauteilen ein breites Spektrum an Wohnformen bietet – von Atelier- und Maisonettewohnungen über Microlofts bis hin zu Einheiten für Senior*innen und betreute Jugendliche.
Das gemeinschaftliche Angebot aus Kultur, (Aus-)Bildung, Arbeit und Freizeit ist dabei so vielfältig wie die Bewohnerschaft und die Umgebung selbst.

Gold🏅für mehr als 30 Jahre Wohnbau!
Gestern wurde Gerda Maria Gerner, Gründerin und CFO von GERNER GERNER PLUS., mit dem Goldenen Verdienstzeichen des Landes Wien geehrt.

Die Ehrung erfolgte in Anerkennung ihrer außerordentlichen Errungenschaften im Bereich der Architektur sowie ihres bedeutenden Beitrags zur Weiterentwicklung des sozialen Wohnbaus in Wien. Verliehen wurde die besondere Auszeichnung von Wiens Vizebürgermeisterin und Landeshauptmann-Stellvertreterin Kathrin Gaál. Volker Dienst würdigte in seiner Laudatio insbesondere die weibliche Perspektive auf die Entwicklung des Wohn- und Schulbaus sowie des öffentlichen Raums.

Wir sind stolz, das Jahr unseres 30-jährigen Firmenjubiläums mit dieser ehrenvollen Auszeichnung zu beginnen! Mit der Anerkennung eines Weges, der immer von Zusammenarbeit, von Haltung und von Verantwortung geprägt war.
