The relaunch of the Vienna-based studio comes with clear goals: a stronger visual identity, a website designed for both exploration and targeted project searches, and case studies that communicate expertise with clarity and confidence.

Strategy workshops and in-depth conversations formed the foundation of the new identity, sharpening the studio’s profile and making their ethos tangible within the architectural landscape.

A black-and-white site plan clearly shows how a project can blend intelligently into its surroundings. For us, it captured X42’s careful approach — and became a strong inspiration for the new logotype. The established name was intentionally kept, with the addition of ‘Architecture Studio’. Structural fields and frames from architectural plans influenced the layout system: fine lines guide the content and create a clean contrast with the bold typography. Soft pastel colors run throughout the identity: they support navigation on the website and bring lively variation to printed materials.

The studio’s mix of approachability and professionalism also comes through in the portraits and candid moments captured by Max Kropitz, reflecting the authentic atmosphere of X42.

Stefan Buchmayer is one of the young pioneers of the natural wine scene in the Weinviertel region. His wines have a new, diverse flavor spectrum, are unusual in a positive sense for curious palates, and fundamentally change the way we view classic varieties. We have transferred this new approach to the design.

A collective idea turned into architecture: The die HausWirtschaft is a cooperative housing and working project in Vienna’s Nordbahnviertel, where community and creativity meet under one roof. From co-working spaces to workshops, health practices, a shared kitchen with rooftop garden, a NordbahnSaal for events and even a small hotel. Every corner of the building reflects collaboration and diversity.

The building, designed by Einszueins Architektur takes a pragmatic approach to cost-effective and sustainable construction in order to create plenty of space for communal activities alongside the apartments. This distinguishes HausWirtschaft from projects that are often implemented in a standardised manner by property developers.

Hot (past) days call for unusual workflows.
This time the project brief was simple: get the team together, hop on a boat, swim in the Danube, and end up around a long table full of good food.
Successful project!

What do you get when you mix design planning with sleepy giants, the smallest frog in the world and a few unexpected companions on wheels? Working on exhibition graphics in a Natural History Museum comes with its own set of surprises.

Together with the NhM Naturhistorisches Museum Wien team, we developed a consistent design, organisation and labelling system for the collections. The systematic structure helps make sense of thousands of objects in a scientifically correct and clear way.

But before clarity came, we dived into the unexpected – the process was anything but boring. Check out our website for the complete and professional result.

In the past two years we worked intensively with the team of NhM Naturhistorisches Museum Wien and the Studio Okular to develop the new orientation system and exhibition graphic design! We’re taking you behind the scenes of this long journey.

Working in such a historic and monumental space meant every graphic decision was about more than design, it was about dialogue between past and present, between architecture and orientation, between addition and reduction.

Swipe to catch a the work in progress, from dusty site visits to the fresh signage now guiding around one million visitors through dinosaur bones, meteorites, and ancient fossils.

But this is just a peek! The full project (and our final shots) are now on our website. Head over to our website to see how we combined graphic design, architecture, and storytelling to help you not get lost in time.

We are featured in the new issue of Grafikmagazin where Bettina Schutz examined how we designed the wayfinding-system at the Wien Museum following a comprehensive idea of inclusion. Tactile guidelines lead directly from the underground station to the entrance. Indoor starting point is a haptic 3D-model of the building in the foyer, tactile guidance objects with linked audio output follow along the way. A digital exhibition guide and general structural accessibility complete the system for all senses.

Our signage doesn’t just guide, it speaks to everyone. On the entrance doors, the extracted “W” and “M” from the museum logotype are transformed into haptic welcome handles. All of these elements were prototyped, user-tested by people with special needs and refined in close collaboration with accessibility experts to achieve the best usability for all. We didn’t stop at physical access: we also crafted gender-neutral restroom icons, an awareness-raising detail that welcomes every visitor, regardless of gender.

We love communication work that helps people to understand the world a bit better. Our methods for the Styrian provincial hospitals are to simplify complex issues, make relations understandable and convey messages emotionally.

Reorganising the healthcare system so that it remains efficient but reliable is a complex issue. Not everything can be shown or explained in detail. And yet it is important to understand change and not see it as a disadvantage. Our storytelling informs, presents innovative measures, motivates employees and takes away the uncertainty that something new could be simply a cost-cutting measure. Instead it clearly communicates, that flexibility, security and time savings are great benefits for everyone.

The story was developed and condensed step by step to the max – in close cooperation with the clinics‘ communication and statistics experts. This also applies to the visual language. The unique look of the illustrative world with it‘s individual human touch reaches employees and patients personally.

Meet Elina, our new intern! With a background in communication design and a focus on information design, she brings a sharp eye for structure and clarity.

During her time with us, she’s on a quest to explore what design truly is: a seemingly simple question that unfolds into countless answers, depending on the perspective one takes in everyday design practice.

We’re excited to have her curiosity and fresh approach in the studio, and we look forward to discovering new outcomes together.

Her background in hospitality gives her a unique sensitivity to people’s needs and how to create spaces that truly resonate on an emotional level. She doesn’t just design interiors, she crafts atmospheres that make people feel at home.
Beyond design, we’re curious to see what other inspirations Jennifer will bring into the studio. Welcome, Jennifer!
