Happy World Environment Day!

Today the communities, institutions and individuals around the world call on governments, cities, businesses, and people everywhere to move in one direction: read the signals around you - and send one back.

The ESR supports sustainability in imaging and the reduction of carbon consumption and waste in healthcare. We are proud to support the aims of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and its call for action.

In recognition of the upcoming World Environment Day we're taking a look back at ECR 2025. With its theme Planet Radiology, the congress provided a blueprint for radiologists to bring sustainability and greener practices to their imaging departments 🌍️

Watch this plenary lecture from the congress by Rowland Illing AWS Chief Medical Officer and Director of Global Healthcare and Non-Profits.

He highlights how cloud technology in radiology plays a significant role in promoting both healthy individuals and a healthy planet by enabling efficient storage, sharing, and analysis of imaging data and minimising the carbon footprint associated with traditional imaging practices.

At ECR 2025, Rowland Illing gave a forward-thinking plenary lecture...

🧠🔍 Challenge!🧠🔍
Can you spot the diagnosis from today’s case?
A 35-year-old male presented with lower urinary tract symptoms, including frequency, dysuria, and urgency. He reported intranasal ketamine use for 3–4 years, with symptom fluctuations depending on consumption. Physical examination revealed mild epigastric pain. Urine culture and sexually transmitted infections screening were negative. Urinalysis showed haematuria and leukocyturia, and blood tests showed elevated liver enzyme levels (FA, ALT, GGT).

Take a close look and trust your instincts… what do you see? 👀
A) Obstructive biliary disease
B) Tuberculous cystitis
C) Ketamine induced cholangiopathy and uropathy
D)Primary sclerosing cholangitis
