BEHIND THE FINISH

You see the finished wall.

We see everything behind it.

A finished wall can look simple.

But behind that surface there may be:

• Structural framing
• Electrical services
• Plumbing
• Insulation
• Building membranes
• Linings
• Fixings
• Junctions
• Openings
• Multiple trades working in sequence

Every layer has a purpose.

And every trade needs to work with the others.

This is why construction isn‘t simply about putting materials together.

It is about coordination.

The electrician needs to understand the framing.

The plumber needs to understand the layout.

The insulation needs to work with the wall system.

The waterproofing needs to connect correctly with surrounding elements.

The finished surfaces need to work with the details underneath.

FINISHED FLOOR LEVELS

Why do floor levels matter so much?

Because one finished floor rarely exists on its own.

In a renovation, a new floor may need to connect with:

• Existing flooring
• New tiles
• Timber or hybrid flooring
• Door thresholds
• Bathroom floors
• Kitchen cabinetry
• External paving
• Waterproofing build-ups
• Drainage levels

Every layer has a thickness.

Every transition needs to work.

If these levels aren‘t considered early, you can end up with awkward steps, uneven transitions, door clearance issues or details that simply don’t look right.

This is why experienced builders think about the finished result before installing the first layer.
