After spending 20 years working in retail, I decided to take a leap of faith and start my own small business. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Have you noticed millipedes in your house recently?

In Adelaide, millipedes (most commonly the invasive Portuguese millipede) migrate into homes during late autumn and winter seeking warmth, shelter, and a mate. The cold, wet winter weather makes the outdoors unfavorable, and these critters are also highly attracted to interior lights shining out into the night.

How to keep them out.

Apply a residual pesticide (e.g., products containing bifenthrin or fipronil) about 1 meter out and 1 meter up around your home’s foundation and entry points.

Do not squash them. They don't bite, but when squashed, they release an unpleasant, foul-smelling, and yellowish-brown liquid that can stain carpets, tiles, clothing, and skin. Just vacuum them up or pick them up with a tissue and dispose.
