Fire equipment checks… what’s the deal?🔥
Fire gear like extinguishers, fire blankets and exit lights are easy to ignore… until you actually need them.
Regular testing and servicing just makes sure everything works when it’s supposed to. No point having an extinguisher on the wall if it’s empty or an exit sign that doesn’t emit enough light.
In Australia, this stuff gets checked to make sure it’s ready to go:
🧯 Fire extinguishers get inspected and serviced on a schedule
🔥 Fire blankets are checked to make sure they’re in good condition and accessible
🚨 Exit and emergency lights are tested so they actually work if the power goes out
How often depends on the type of equipment, but most places are on routine schedules throughout the year.
It’s all part of meeting Australian standards and keeping workplaces safe. It’s also something that can get picked up in inspections pretty quickly if it’s been ignored.
Simple way to look at it: if there’s a fire, this is the gear people rely on. It needs to work, no guessing.
