DIRECTIONALLY DRILLED 621M PILOT HOLE
⬛️🟥BREAKTHROUGH COMPLETED🟥⬛️

Our North Queensland project crews recently completed the directional drilling of a 621m pilot hole utilising the MICON Drilling Rotary Vertical Drilling System (RVDS).

The RVDS is a specialised automated vertical drilling system, and the system is integrated into the bottom hole assembly between the drill bit and the first stabiliser. During operation, a turbine provides the system with self-sustaining energy. Integrated inclinometer constantly measures the deviation of the vertical pilot hole axis. Corrections will automatically be performed by four hydraulic extendable steering ribs.

The outcome for this pilot hole was a possible deviation of 0.024%.
A truly remarkable achievement!
