Open Shelves - how to get it right 👇

A trend that's still going strong in 2026, open shelves are a great statement feature. Especially when selecting timber shelves, open shelves bring warmth and function to a kitchen, and can make small spaces appear larger.

Some of our customers weigh up the benefits of open shelves against the maintenance requirements: the exposed items are prone to grease and dust buildup in the kitchen, and can look messy without proper styling.

If you love the look, consider:

⚫ Combining closed cabinetry for bulkier items with select open shelves to display curated items, such as cookbooks or colorful pottery.

⚫ Placing shelves near single-use stations (like coffee bars or prep areas) rather than directly over the main cooktop to minimise grease buildup.
