DAY 1 🏗️ | Gillen Oval Multi-Sport Precinct

Fences are up and the banners are on — construction of the new Gillen Oval Multi-Sport Precinct in Alice Springs is officially underway!

We're delivering this $14.3 million project for the Northern Territory Government's Department of Logistics and Infrastructure, and it's going to give Central Australia's young players, schools and sporting clubs a quality home ground to grow.

What's coming to Gillen Oval:

- Large irrigated multi-use playing fields, adaptable for a range of codes

- Inclusive and accessible change rooms and toilets

- Canteen, first aid, office and storage facilities

- Shaded spectator seating

- More car parking, bike racks, lighting and landscaping

- Ample accessible friendly concrete paths

As Member for Braitling Joshua Burgoyne said, "everyone knows Central Australians love their sport." We couldn't agree more, and we're proud to be the local team building it.

Thanks to DLI, the design team, and the clubs who've championed this precinct, including Football NT and Central Australian Rugby Union.

Big Strides at the Alice Springs Medicare Mental Health Centre fitout this week!

Glazed partitions are in, the custom arched joinery is looking the goods, and the Tarkett flooring is down throughout- laid by none other than Reg, a genuine Alice Springs legend when it comes to flooring. If you've walked across a quality floor in town, theres a good chance Reg put it there 🙌

A BIG shout out too to Walter, our painter, whos been working hard and doing an amazing job on the textured wall finishes. The detail hes brought in this space really shows. 🎨🖌

This is a centre thats going to make a real difference for the people in our community, and we're proud to be building it with local trades like Reg and Walter.

More to come as we head into the finishing stages.

TCBF PROJECT SPOTLIGHT!

Take a look at these photos from the Tennant Creek Boarding Facility, showcasing the work being carried out by our Steel Framing NT business, led by Workshop Manager Baden Peckham.

With a dedicated team of 4 employees who are 100% Indigenous, contributing valuable skills and expertise to the TCBF project.

The workshop specialises in manufacturing steel wall frames and roof trusses, all supplied with full certification to ensure quality, compliance and peace of mind.

It’s great to see local Indigenous skills and businesses playing an important role in delivering this project.

🌿 6-Star Green Star — a huge milestone for Central Australia 🌿

Congratulations to Australian Aboriginal Congress on the new Mparntwe Health Hub achieving a 6-Star Green Star Design and As Built certification from the Green Building Council of Australia — the highest rating in the NT, and the first building in Central Australia to achieve both Design and As Built certification.

Asbuild was proud to be the builder on this landmark project, working alongside Dugdale and Associates to deliver a health facility built around energy and water efficiency, low-toxicity materials, recycled and recyclable products, and reduced construction waste, all in service of a healthier environment for the community it serves.

A special shoutout to our own Sarah Higgins, whose relentless commitment to chasing down suppliers and contractors for documentation made this certification possible. It was no small task pulling together everything required to meet a 6-Star standard, and Sarah's persistence and attention to detail got it over the line. Well done, Sarah! 👏
