Spring planting season is here, and so are two of our favourite ways to grow. 🌱

Top: GB800 Aquaponics Grow Bed
This 800 litre poly bed measures 2.4 m long, 1.2 m wide and 310 mm deep. Use it for aquaponics or as a planter tray. It’s strong, light and versatile, and you can add the optional support legs to raise it to a comfortable working height.

Bottom: PlantaPod™ Double 840 Raised Garden Bed
At 800 mm high, this bed means less bending, easier weeding and a much happier back. It measures 2.17 m long and 1.12 m wide, comes in a Wilderness Green finish, and suits vegetables, greens, flowers or even small trees. Put a few side by side for a bigger garden.

Both beds stack for transport, so ordering a few at once can save on delivery.

This customer sent in a photo of their garden, and we love how the tank settles into it. Trees overhang it, stepping stones lead past it, and the plants fill in around the base. A soft green tank in a green garden turns the tank into part of the backdrop.

There’s a practical bonus too. With the tank sitting right in the garden, the water is close to where it’s needed.

A water tank doesn’t have to fight your home’s design. It can be part of it. 🏡

This customer’s tank sits in a corner where the house steps back, plumbed straight off the downpipes. The tank colour sits comfortably against the rendered walls, and a timber-edged garden bed wraps around the base so the whole corner looks planned rather than added on. With that ocean view in the background, it’s a pretty good spot for a tank to live.

If you’re planning a tank, think about where it’ll sit early on. A corner, a set-back wall or the side of a garage can all work well. Pick a colour that suits the house, and add some planting around the base to soften it.

That empty space under your deck could be holding your rainwater. 🌿

Underdeck tanks are built low and flat, so they slide into the gap under a raised deck and stay out of sight. Your yard stays free.

Spring check-in time! 🌸🍂

Leaves, blossom and roof grime build up fast this time of year. Once they clog your tank strainer or leaf eater, two things happen:

💧 Less rain makes it into your tank. Water backs up and spills over instead.
🦟 Rotting debris sits right where your water comes in.

A quick clean takes a few minutes. Lift the strainer or open the leaf eater, tip out the gunk, give the mesh a brush and a rinse, and pop it back. Check them again after a big storm.

If your mesh is torn or cracked, it's time for a new one. Our replacement Tank Strainers have mosquito-proof mesh and come in three sizes to suit all Duraplas poly water tanks.

We love seeing our products put to work in places like this. 🌿

These reed beds were installed at a local Steiner school, built from our GB800 poly grow beds and planted out with reeds over gravel. It's a neat, practical setup that works with nature while giving students a living example of how plants can help manage water.

The GB800 is a versatile bed: 2.4 metres long, 1.2 metres wide and 800 litres. It's made in Australia by Duraplas from UV stabilised recycled polyethylene. It won't rust or rot, and it comes with a 5-year commercial-industrial warranty. It works as a reed bed, aquaponics grow bed or raised planter, and you can add a timber support frame if you want it off the ground.

Flashback to one of our more unusual deliveries. 🚤

Plenty of homes and properties along the Hawkesbury River in NSW can only be reached by boat. No road access means no truck can get there, but these residents still need water storage.

So the tank went by water. An empty poly tank floats, so with a tinny, a tow line and a steady hand on the tiller, it made its way up the river to its new home.

We've delivered to some of Australia's trickiest properties over the years, from steep hillsides to narrow driveways and properties with no road at all. If your place is tricky to get to, talk to us. Chances are we've seen something like it before.
