Blocked sewer in Sunshine West and this one had a twist 👀

After penetrating the blockage with our hydro jetter, we sent the Ridgid SeeSnake CCTV camera in 📹 and found the cause: a PVC glue pot lodged in the line. It is roughly the same diameter as 100mm pipe, which makes it a tricky obstruction to clear and retrieve 🧱

We traced the issue back to the sewer inspection shaft in the backyard, only to find the shaft lid had been buried under concrete, restricting access and leaving it non compliant 🚫🧱 To get proper access, we cut the paving with a demo saw for a clean edge, jackhammered out the section, and exposed the shaft 🪚🔨

From there, our Ridgid Kollmann sectional sewer machine did exactly what it is built for: object retrieval in larger diameter pipework 🧰 We removed the glue pot and restored full flow to the main sewer line ✅💧

Trying to save both the planet and our clients’ hip pocket.
At Leak Solutions Plumbing we always prefer to repair and restore over replace — and this job is a perfect example of why.
Instead of recommending a brand new toilet bowl, we restored this one back to a near new condition using CLR Calcium, Lime & Rust Remover. No new ceramic being manufactured, no old bowl ending up in landfill — just a simple, effective clean that’s better for the environment and better for the wallet.
This customer had tried regular toilet cleaner multiple times with no real improvement on the severe urine scale buildup. Here’s what actually worked:
✅ Turned off the water supply and Wet Vac’d the bowl dry

What the naked eye can’t see 👀🌡️
Bathtub leak in Seabrook — zero visible signs. One thermal camera later? Found. ✅
The FLIR E6 Pro picked up the temperature differential on the floorboards in the next room. Moisture meter confirmed it, Milwaukee Mini Inspection Camera went into the bath void and showed us exactly what was happening — the plug and waste fitting was filling the subfloor with water every single time the bath was used.

The Posh Domaine Close Coupled Rimless Toilet Suite from Reece is a great budget-friendly option for clients wanting a quality ceramic toilet without paying premium money. Reece lists it with a rimless bowl for ease of cleaning, a soft close quick release seat, 4 Star WELS rating, and a powerful 4.5/3L dual flush which is essential for washing away the mess of a number 2. The listed S-trap drain setout is 145mm.

This is the exact suite installed in our own home, and after around 4–5 years of use we still rate it as a very solid, affordable choice. It is not a back-to-wall suite, but it still gives a neat finish and covers the plumbing well from the front view.

🚨 Sewer Blockage Cleared Properly – Not Just “Good Enough” 🚨

✔️ CCTV Inspection – Located the issue visually inside the pipe
✔️ Precision Locating – Using the Ridgid locator + sonde to mark exact position & depth

Once we started cleaning, we found a root ball that most would call “done”… but not us.

We reinserted the CCTV camera alongside the jetter to pinpoint the exact remaining roots, then removed the camera and hit it again with precision jetting until it was 100% cleared.

We attended a property in Altona for routine maintenance after the client noticed a strong foul smell coming from a nearby sewer vent.

First step — CCTV inspection of the sewer line to see exactly what was happening inside the pipe.

What we found:
Although the drain was flowing fine, there was a heavy buildup of sludge and debris — a common cause of ongoing sewer odours.

We recommended a preventative jet clean to properly flush the system out the system and raise vent pipework higher into atmosphere.

Using our Ridgid KJ5000 Hydro Jet Cleaner, we carried out a full high-pressure clean of the sewer line.

Once completed, we returned with the CCTV camera to confirm the result 👇

✔️ Pipe walls fully cleaned
✔️ Buildup completely removed
✔️ Odour source eliminated

Had an amazing day out on the water with the skipper Steven from after we took a few of our home branch Reece Plumbing employees out on the water to hunt for their first big red. Let’s just say they were not disappointed with landing an 85cm Snapper on the side of the boat with a great fight for his first big fish. Everyone on board had a ball and will definitely be booking back in again soon.

This is a love job we have completed for Leak Solutions Plumbings #1 Fan Jim May. Jimmy boy we HIGHLY recommend giving the “flushable” wipes the flick and going back to just using normal toilet paper. These wipes are helping me pay off my home which is great for me but bad for consumers. This visit is on the house but next time it may not be if we find these things to be back in the bathrooms 😉 Rest up mate and we hope your out of hospital very soon and the procedure actually takes place. Unblocking a monster tree root which was causing flooding to this beautiful home in Altona Meadows, As you can tell I was pretty excited to get this job over the line.
