The Rains are Coming:
Now is the time to have your gutters, downpipes and storm-water lines cleared and cleaned. Overflow from the gutters can cause water to flow on-top of the eves lining and into the house. Job of the week.
Friday 16 December, Pig-It Drain Cleaning Service was called to a job in Montreal Road, Woodbridge, W.A. Customer had a blockage in the Main Line resulting in Raw Sewerage overflowing out of the Inspection Rising Shaft at the back of the property.

Upon Investigation, involving use of Hydro Drain Jetter and Drain Camera's, it was discovered that a blockage was present at the Junction of the I.R.S. and the Main Sewer Line.

A call was placed to Water Corp Emergency Response. Within the hour a Emergency Response crew arrived to assist with the problem. ( As usual, great response by Water Corp ).

Upon further Investigation it was determined that the Main Sewer Line had recently been Re-Lined by Interflow. However, Interflow had omitted an important step in the procedure. None of the laterals had been cut in the Main Line. This resulted in each and every property serviced by this line having no access to the Main Sewer Line, causing an overflow of Raw Sewerage to each of the properties. ( Not a good look).

The Emergency Crew from Water Corp are to be commended on their commitment and dedication in working throughout the evening and well into the night, to ensure service was returned to each and every customer effected. Job well done.

Tip Of The Week.
River Rocks, Pebbles all look good in the garden. They make wonderful borders and help keep the weeds away.
However, they are also irresistible to the kids. The Gully Traps around your house are an invitation to the kids to fill up with these Rocks and Pebbles. Result, blocked drains. The Rocks and Pebbles collect at the bottom of the Gully, we have to dig up the pipe to remove the Stones from the bottom of the Trap. A costly and time consuming exercise.

Beware of Unscrupulous Operators;
Please be aware of dodgy operators, they take advantage of the situation, and people's lack of knowledge with regard to Blocked Drains and Pipes.

Some operators will tell you a load of Porkies about your Drains and Pipes with the intention of "Upselling" you on further " Very Costly" work, that you probably do not need.
They will tell you of major faults that require immediate attention; "If you do not have this fixed, your House will Blow Up !". " Your Pipes will collapse". " You will be unable to access your amenities, toilet, shower, sinks". " If we do not fix it NOW, it will cost you Thousands Later".

What a load of Pig s...t. More often than not, they are trying it on. Trying to scare and intimidate you into accepting costly work that you do not need.

Based on my experience, Unblocking and Cleaning Drains Every Day throughout Perth, 8 out of every 10 calls are related to Soft Blockages. That is Paper, Wipes, Lack of Water Flow, Obstructions in Gully Traps, Fat and Grease Build Up. There are of course, instances of Tree Roots in the System. But these can be cleaned and removed effectively using Hydro Drain Jetting, and managed utilizing preventative maintenance practices.
