The geotextile fabric acts as a separation layer, preventing the clean fill from mixing with the underlying soil, while still allowing water to pass through. Inverted leach drains then help redirect subsurface water away from the area, and the clean fill raises and stabilises the surface.

Another Septic Tank installation in Karridale. They are required to be filled with water during installation, to ensure the tank maintains its structural integrity and stability.

This practice serves several purposes:

1. Prevents Floating - When a septic tank is empty and placed in a hole, it can be buoyant, especially if the water table is high or if there’s heavy rainfall. Filling the tank with water helps prevent it from floating or shifting out of place.

2. Stabilises the Tank - Water provides weight that helps stabilise the septic tank while it's settling into the ground. This reduces the risk of the tank shifting or becoming misaligned, which could lead to system failure.

3. Helps with Proper Installation - Filling the tank with water ensures that there is no air trapped inside, which could lead to uneven settling. It helps the tank sit evenly in the excavation site, ensuring proper alignment with the pipes and inlet/outlet connections.

This practice is standard during the installation of septic tanks to ensure long-term functionality and avoid potential problems with the system.
