**WE’RE HIRING – CASUAL GARDENER**

Love gardening, being outdoors and seeing the difference your work makes?

Fergie’s Total Lawn Care is looking for a friendly, reliable and motivated Casual Gardener to join our team.

This role is focused on general garden care and maintenance. We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys gardening, takes pride in their work and has a great eye for detail.

For the right person, we may also be able to offer flexibility around school hours and family commitments.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Your day may include:

• General garden maintenance
• Weeding and tidying garden beds
• Pruning and light hedging
• Mulching
• Plant care
• Garden clean-ups
• Blowing down and leaving properties neat and tidy
• Light lawn maintenance where required
• Keeping residential and commercial gardens looking their best

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You don’t need to be a qualified horticulturist or landscaper for this role.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Genuinely enjoys gardening and working outdoors
• Takes pride in making gardens look great
• Has excellent attention to detail
• Is reliable, punctual and organised
• Is comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Is friendly, approachable and professional with clients
• Is physically capable of carrying out general gardening duties
• Has a positive attitude and is willing to learn

Previous gardening experience would be great, whether that’s through employment or simply from having a genuine passion and knowledge of gardening, but it’s not essential.

Training will be provided to the right applicant, so if you have a great attitude, are reliable and keen to learn, we’d still love to hear from you.

FLEXIBILITY FOR THE RIGHT PERSON

This is a casual position, and we’re happy to discuss suitable days and hours with the successful applicant.

School-hours flexibility may be available, making this a great opportunity for someone looking to return to the workforce, balance work with family commitments, or simply find a flexible outdoor role doing something they enjoy.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE

• Current MANUAL driver’s licence – essential
• Reliable transport to get to work
• Ability to carry out physical outdoor work
• Good communication skills
• Reliability and a strong work ethic

Ideally, you’ll have experience with roller mowing and/or ride-on mowers. Experience in reticulation and landscaping would also be highly regarded.

• General gardening and property maintenance
• Turf preparation and installation
• Reticulation installation, maintenance and repairs
• Turf renovations, including coring, vertimowing, topdressing and soil amendments

The successful applicant must be:

• Punctual and reliable
• Well presented
• A good communicator
• Physically fit and capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions, including the heat
• Holder of a **current manual driver’s licence**

Experience is great, but attitude, reliability and a willingness to learn are just as important to us.

This is a casual position with the opportunity to move into full-time employment for the right person.

The Winter sprinkler ban finishes on the 31st of August.
So the 1st of September systems can go back on (really it should not need to go on as it isn't hot and dry - so save water)
Work on improving your soil health which also helps to retain moisture in the soil resulting in less water required to keep your lawns healthy and lush.

If you know that you have retic issues, then get in touch before we start booking out and get your system ready for the season ahead.

How are your lawns handling this cold winter weather?

I have not long been in this house so I am looking forward to giving it a Vertimow this season and improve the turf and soil health.

The last 8 weeks since the soil temps have dropped, I have been using Applerich liquid fertiliser and liquid Iron to keep the turf fed and also to help retain the colour when most lawns go dormant and turn yellowish over Winter. The Applerich range is quality and i am looking forward to making this a part of my regular upkeep. It has certainly helped to keep the turf slowly growing over Winter. Yes it needs a mow 😀
