YOU CAN’T FIX WHAT YOU CAN’T SEE! 🫣🏠💨

When improving the thermal performance of an existing home, insulation is only part of the story.

A blower door test measures how airtight a home really is — revealing hidden air leaks around windows, doors, floor junctions, penetrations and other areas that can undermine comfort and energy efficiency.

Testing before a retrofit helps us understand where improvements will have the greatest impact. Testing afterwards tells us whether those improvements actually worked.

It’s a simple principle: measure first, improve intelligently, then verify.

Because a high-performance retrofit shouldn’t be based on guesswork.

The editorial showcases our recent high-performance addition and retrofit project for a historic church on the outskirts of Ballarat. It explores the ideas, design and building principles behind transforming an existing home into a more comfortable, energy-efficient and environmentally conscious place to live.

Equally as rewarding and important to doing the work we do is to check-in with our peers every so often for validation of why we do what we do…
Attending today’s “Retrofit Playbook” event, presented by to tackle the poor energy and health ratings of Australias existing housing stock was nothing short of inspiring.
The event was met with an impressive turnout of like-minded builders, architects suppliers and homeowners to share the stats, the science, their personal journeys within their own profession and anecdotal stories of overcoming industry norms to “Make Homes Great Again”. 🔨🌱💫🙏💫
