Winter can be tough on plumbing systems, particularly hot water services, solar hot water units, stormwater drains and gutters.

A few simple checks now can help identify potential issues before they turn into unexpected winter call outs.

We’ve put together a quick Winter Plumbing Checklist covering some of the most common cold weather plumbing problems we see each year.

If you’re concerned about your hot water service, solar hot water system, stormwater drainage or a possible leak, it’s always better to investigate early.

Vic Urban Plumbing has a Free Plumbing Initiative available for patients receiving care through Ballarat Hospice Care.

The initiative covers both labour and materials and is available for a range of common plumbing issues, including leaking taps and toilets, blocked drains, burst pipes, hot water problems, water and gas leaks, shower repairs and more.

We recently carried out water quality testing at a property where the owner had concerns about the condition of their water supply.

The testing identified elevated organic contamination readings, which led us to investigate further. In this case, the cause was found to be ageing galvanised pipework that had deteriorated internally over time.

Our testing looks at things like organic contamination, dissolved solids and overall water quality indicators to help identify problems that can’t always be seen with the naked eye.

If your water has an unusual taste, odour, or colour, water quality testing can provide some valuable answers.

Vic Urban Plumbing is looking for an experienced Maintenance Plumber to join our team.

What you’ll be doing:
General domestic plumbing maintenance
Fault-finding and repairs
Hot water service repairs and installs
Gas appliance installs
Water and gas main renewals
CCTV inspections and jetting
Communicating clearly and professionally
Accurately complete job notes
Maintain a clean and professional work environment
Following safety procedures and regulations
Representing Vic Urban Plumbing with pride

What we’re looking for:
Cert III in Plumbing (or equivalent) and a minimum 2 years’ experience as a registered plumber in maintenance.

Also:
Working With Children Check
White Card
Police Check (or willingness to get one)
Current Driver’s Licence
Excellent communication and customer service
Strong problem-solving skills
Friendly, reliable, and committed to quality work
