We design, approve, and build high-quality residential projects — with one team, from first conversation to final handover. Ballast Point is an architectural design and construction company that aims to change the way buildings are created so our clients feel inspired, informed and supported. We exist to help our clients transform their home into something truly exceptional that enriches their life. We are passionate about working with clients to understand what they need from us and delivering a tailored solution, believing that and we believe that good communication and strong relationships are paramount to achieving a great outcome. Before you design anything, check which approval you actually need.

Keeping it small doesn’t guarantee a quick Complying Development Certificate (CDC). It depends on strict NSW rules about your property, and if you don’t tick every box, it’s a Development Application (DA). Which isn’t always the slow route people expect.

A look into our Design Consultation service.

Before committing to a design, our clients' brief was tested against the realities of their site: a heritage overlay, floor space limits under the Inner West Local Environmental Plan, and the choice between a Complying Development Certificate and a full Development Application.

Lightwell works within the existing envelope, reshaping the living spaces around light rather than adding floor area. Backyard opens the rear of the house into an open-plan kitchen and living space, looking out over a courtyard to a studio at the back of the block.

Each came with its own cost, approval pathway and planning fit, so the clients could make the call with the full picture in front of them.

We’re growing our team and looking for a full-time Project Manager to join Ballast Point in Balmain.

You’ll work across our architecture and construction teams, helping manage residential projects from feasibility and design right through to construction and handover.

The role covers project programming, procurement, budgets, contract administration, client communication and coordination with our design and site teams.

We’re looking for someone with strong project management fundamentals who is ready to take the next step and take real ownership of their projects.

Experience in architectural or high-quality residential projects is a plus, but not essential.
