I’m not one for social media posts really, I’d rather be working and getting your garden tickety boo than taking photos of plants and boulders and features, I’m old school I’m afraid. So if you’re after a video, I’ll allow you to scroll past.
One thing that has always stuck with me after arriving on these great shores 10ish years ago is ANZAC day, ( I’m forever thankful Mr Miller). We’ve only ever done Remembrance Day in the UK. I never cared if you wanted to give me £1 or ten million £’s at 11am, one minutes silence is all i’m asking. One minute to stop, reflect, think of what could have been, one minute to remember young men, scared to death, going forward, one minute to remember young men never coming home to their loved ones, young men retrieving their comrades, young women as we knew them ‘land girls’, growing food because of rations, cutting down church railings or taking lead from roof’s for the ammunitions supply. (Thanks for that info Gran x), and if you’ve watched SAS Rogue Heroes, no thought for mental wellbeing, no thought for anything other than stopping the enemy and maintaining ‘normal’ life as we knew then and we are afforded now.
For ‘all’ Australian service personnel, I think that’s PC nowadays, past, present & future, for fallen comrades, for all the silent & trauma inflicted non-fallen personnel who came home, for their loving and supporting family members who understand and stand with them, and all future personnel, I personally salute you all, I thank you all for being involved in multiple conflicts that your country was dragged in to, and you all did it for protecting and cherishing this wonderful country we all call home. Thank you doesn’t seem like enough and it isn’t. 🎗️
one minute,
