What to do when it’s too wet for silage?
Soilkee some more summer crop in!

Our steers are averaging 1.5 kgs/day, will be just going through 650 kgs when they come in here in about 8-10 weeks.

Sowing, DownUnderCovers Super Summer Mix South, with some liquid inject in furrow, worm juice , Fulvic, kelp and biofert.

So, while waiting for some better planting conditions in South West Vic I’ve been busy in the shed.

Getting Liquid Inject onto both the Soilkee and our Agrodisc drill ( AgroDrill with Ryan NT discs under it) has been on the list for some time. Both units and the associated electronics are now operational.

Trials of Liquid Inject brews are underway, initial results are promising.

Steers munching into a paddock that has only been Soilkeed for the last 3.5 years.

It’s going great, this sowing was DownUnderCovers winter super mix. Steers did just under 1.5 kgs / day, mid July to mid August, got to be happy with that. Healthy soils, healthy pastures, healthy cattle.

Starting getting out some home brewed foliar fert onto our Soilkee’d paddocks at Paton’s Hill, Irrewillipe.

Thanks to Soil Land Food, VicNoTill and Brian and Carol Fitzpatrick for the training on brewing bioferts at scale. Our scale is way lower, but there is no way we would be in production with our first home brewed bioferts just 120 days after attending their field day back in March.

Ok so our pasture is too tall for the MLA pasture ruler. We’ve got a new dog, Sox, she doesn’t know it yet but she’s new pasture meter. Sox is currently about 400 mm high atm 14 weeks old. 3/4 lab 1/4 staghound, super chilled dog, great little buddy.

But this post is about multi-species pasture, this paddock was over sown with Down Under Covers Winter super mix about 12 weeks ago. Sown with Ryan NT retrofit Double Discs

Knocking off another paddock with the Soilkee and mulcher at home after a few days on the road around Terang and Cobden. Heading east tomorrow for jobs between Irrewillipe and Kawarren.

Mulching a failed sorghum paddock at Bungador and resowing with some oats. Most of it wasn’t this tall but really pleased how the RyanNT discs handled it.

Dry sowing some Down Under Covers Winter Starter Mix, with our newly installed RyanNT double disks at Barongarook. The disks are doing a great job placing seed, ready for the autumn break. Running the mulcher to deal with some chicory when required.
