Christmas celebrations will be a lot more festive and jollier in the West Tamar this year thanks to a vast and varied line-up of entertainment at the West Tamar Community Carols for 2024.

A star-studded line-up of singers and performers for the new-look Yuletide event has event organisers Andrew Goelst and Andrew Palmer over-joyed at what they say will be the best Christmas event on show across Northern Tasmania.

"We have been very fortunate to secure the talents of an incredible musical director in Travis Hennessy, who is certainly no stranger to these types of larger-scale events," Mr Palmer said.

"And of course we have our amazing artists who will help us to truly capture the Christmas spirit."

The line-up includes local artists Samantha Hammersley, Nathan Wheldon, Steve Fitzallen, Marcus Byard, Natalie Reid, Dani Barnett, Lauchy Hanson, Launceston Christian School, Melissa Wimmer and her dancers, Royce Aldred, Nikia Breen, Freddie and Georgie Todman, Matthew Garwood and Michelle Rainbow, Carl Cooper, Exeter Primary School, the West Tamar Municipal Band, Kim Roe School of Dance, Miss B’s Student Services, Bee Bop Dance Studio as well as Jackie Barnes and her wonderful Ukulele band, who will welcome everyone through the gates on arrival.

The event will be hosted by the ever-popular Jo Palmer, MLC.

And of course, no Christmas celebration would be complete without a visit from Santa and Mrs Claus.

West Tamar Mayor Christina Holmdahl said the Council was delighted to sponsor this year's event to the tune of more than $14,000.

West Tamar Council Community Carols will be held at the Exeter Showgrounds on Sunday, December 15 from 5pm to 8pm in what promises to be a fun-filled, family friendly community celebration.

Entry will be via Winkleigh Road, with the gates opening at 4pm. Entry will be by gold coin donation.

Those attending are encouraged to bring their own chair and picnic rug, and everyone is encouraged to dress up in a Christmas costume, with prizes up for grabs for the best dressed.

There will also be an amazing range of food and drink vans on-site on the night as well as plenty of off-street parking.
