Don't get caught out with the next power outage.

When the power does go out, there is no telling how many times it will go out or how long for, potentially risking food spoilage in fridges and freezers and a generally unhappy household with no modern technology,

All good things come to an end, and it has been a blast having Deanna Tilley on board, first as a trades assistant, then moving on to an apprenticeship until her completion and working alongside me as a fully qualified electrician. Now it is time to congratulate her as she has been chosen for a scholarship to the Women in Engineering program run by Chevron. Congratulations Dee, go out there and do something special.

You've all heard the saying, water and electrics don't mix, well, the truth is that they mix very well and cause all sorts of mayhem, with the heavens opening up and deluging our houses, now would be a good time to look for leaks, look for any damp patches in the ceiling, it often starts with discolouring of the plaster and goes on to sagging plaster and eventually holes in the ceiling. If this water gets near any of your electrics, the best case is that the RCD (safety switch) trips to cut the power to that circuit, the worst case would be electrical shorting and even the potential for fires.

So, three things to do, firstly DO NOT go into the roof space without cutting all the power to the house. Second, call us so that we can make the area electrically safe and avoid the power tripping and having the rest of the house without power. Finally, employ a roof plumber to have your roof repaired, once it is repaired and dry, we can come back and reconnect the electrics.
