We've designed a natural swimming pool for this new-build rural property near Milton that feels like part of the landscape and is gradually revealed as you move through the garden.
Descending from the tiled alfresco terrace via hardwood stairs, the journey continues through a rustic gate and across a gently flowing creek to a decked area with sunlit seating and dappled shade beneath a grapevine pergola. From there, a pontoon bridge leads over a sandy beach to the pool, framed by boulders and native planting, including tree ferns, grevilleas, rushes and lomandras. Together, these elements evoke the feeling of a natural swimming billabong rather than a conventional pool.
Aquatic planting and a wetland filtration system will naturally keep the water clean and clear without chlorine. Together with the creek and surrounding vegetation, the pool will also create valuable habitat for frogs, birds, insects and other local wildlife, forming a living ecosystem as well as a place to swim.
