It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the passing of one of our own, Life Member Ron Morgan on the 2nd of June.
For those of us that were lucky enough to spend time with Ron riding in the mountains or street parades or at the Get Together, our memories will stay with us. Ron joined the committee of the TMCA shortly after its founding and remained as a stalwart and invaluable member for many years. He was awarded life membership in 2007.
Ron was always admired for his horsemanship and quality of horses in stature and behaviour. His faithful mount ‘Ben’ became a regular flag bearer at street parades, demonstrations at shows and an unflappable influence for our young horses. Once Ben reached retirement age Ron turned up with an interesting looking mount christened ‘Rose Petal’ which he proceeded to train to sit down and perform many other tricks. His next horse Charlie was one of the first to perform tricks at events like Agfest and inspired others to follow suite. Ron was an amazing mountain man, and knew the areas like the back of his hand leading many a TMCA ride and showing us places few get to see. His skills were legendary for packing horses and one of his biggest challenges of carrying a barrel heater into Lee’s hut was accomplished without any issues and with absolute success. Whether it was riding, working bees or any other TMCA activity Ron was always there giving one hundred percent. Even as his health was failing he would still come to the Get Togethers and show his support and it was so special to have Ron at our recent 40th anniversary celebrations. We will miss Ron and all he stood for as an extremely supportive and valuable member of our Association.

As representatives of the association that Ron helped build, members of the TMCA Committee, along with members and friends, will be attending Ron’s funeral and forming a Guard of Honour in recognition of his life and contribution. We warmly invite anyone who would like to join us.
Please dress in cattlemen’s attire (oilskins, shirt, and Akubra).
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Ron’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.
Ron leaves behind a lasting legacy that will remain in our hearts, minds, and the association he cared for so deeply.

Congratulations to our committee member Tara Yost for completing The Man From Snowy River Bush Festivals Rileys Ride on her own horse Rueben, a challenging four day trail ride through the snowy mountains, the crew completes 30km of terrain each day and rides into the reenactment once the festival starts. 🎉

From Tara: “What an experience, the photos just don’t do the terrain and views justice. Amazing ride to be able to do on your own horse, Really gives a sense of achievement between yourself and your horse.”

Congratulations to Danza Hardwicke on competing at the Man from snowy river festival in Corryong this Weekend 🤠🐴
A must see event jam packed with so much you simply can’t see it all in one visit ! They say it takes 3 years of events to see it all !
Add it to your calendar for 8th April 2027 🤠

Danza displayed dedicated horsemanship and true sportsmanship over the whole event, with a near perfect score in the packsaddling division it was a true reflection of her practice she put in leading up to the event, whilst missing out on the finals, Danza awarded the ladies division sportsmanship award for 2026 🤩
🤩Well done Danza 🤠
