Big beautiful flowers.. lasting very long in a vase.. or exceptional as dried flowers.
Proteas do need very well draining..
slighty acidic soil...and are not tolerant at all ..
of heavy clay soils.
Must have low ..to no.. phosphorus fertilizer.
Proteas are long lived .. with drought and moderate frost tolerance once established. 🌱

Growing up to 15m..these very frost and drought tolerant trees.. are usually grown for ornamental purposes...as they need male and female trees to produce the Carob pods.
So.... if you have the room..grow a few ..
or grow them as a screening large hedge.
Well drained soil in full sun..although irrigation helps increases yields.. in trees grown for pods.
