The incredible .studios capturing all the beautiful shadows.

This is actually one of our favourite things about opening The Ambers to photographers and creative teams. seeing how differently each person views the spaces. The same rooms, the same gardens, the same light, yet everyone seems to capture something different.

We love watching beautiful campaigns come to life here and seeing the stories that unfold through someone else’s lens.

Before and after… quite the transformation.

These old photos take us right back to when our babies were little and this house looked very different to how it does today.

But even through all the changes, the heart of it has always stayed the same.

There’s something incredibly special about watching your own children relive parts of your childhood in the same home you grew up in. Running across the lawns, swimming all day, playing pool, piling into bedrooms together and making the same kinds of memories we once did here.

Our parents came from very humble beginnings, both growing up in small rural country towns. Dad left school at just 12 years old to begin an apprenticeship before they eventually moved together to Port Stephens at 21. They worked incredibly hard over the years to create this family home and everything it became.

So this renovation was never just about updating a property. It was very much a labour of love in every sense of the word, with every single member of our family playing a part in bringing it together.

From design decisions and styling, to landscaping, painting, problem solving and countless long days onsite, so much love, care and history has been poured back into this place.

And now seeing new families creating memories here too feels really beautiful.

The billiard table has actually been part of this house for many years and growing up here, we simply couldn’t say goodbye to it.

So when we renovated The Ambers, we knew it had to stay.

It holds so many memories for our family already and now it’s become part of other families’ holidays too. Late night games, kids learning the rules for the first time, grandparents teaching tricks, competitive siblings, group games of Kelly pool and so many laughs around the table.

In this room we created a small bar area along with lots of built in bench seating so people could gather comfortably around the space, even if they weren’t playing.

One of our favourite little details is the beautiful window nook tucked beneath the glass roof. Especially when it rains. It’s the kind of spot you naturally end up lingering a little longer with a good book and a cup of tea, or an afternoon aperitif. Perfect blank spaces to create memories in.

When we reimagined The Ambers, we knew we wanted to keep the spirit of those big, barefoot family holidays we grew up loving. But we also needed practical spaces that could genuinely handle a full house and all the chaos, fun and constant movement that comes with it.

So yes… every pool absolutely needs an outdoor toilet block.

No wet footprints through the house. No hordes of kids dripping through the living room every five minutes. Just easy, practical holiday living designed for real life.

And now with the addition of our beautiful sauna from it’s become even more loved during the cooler months too.

The perfect little spot to warm up after a swim, rinse off, reset and settle into those slow winter afternoons at The Ambers

Weddings at The Ambers are really something special ♡
We thought we’d take a moment to answer some of your most commonly asked questions about weddings and events here.

From intimate gatherings to larger celebrations, the property is designed to hold space for it all, with light filled, neutral interiors and flexible spaces that allow you to shape the day in your own way.

1. What event options do you offer?
Day only events with no accommodation (for up to 30 guests)
Accommodation guests only (for up to 22 guests)
Small events with accommodation (for up to 50 guests)
Grand events with accommodation (for up to 120 guests)

2. Can the bridal party stay the night before?
Yes. The Ambers sleeps up to 22 guests, so your bridal party can stay the night before and settle into a calm, relaxed morning to get ready.

3. Can we hold a wedding ceremony onsite?
Yes. There are a number of beautiful spaces across the property to host your ceremony within the grounds.

4. Can we choose our own vendors?
Yes. You’re welcome to bring your own catering, drinks, and styling team, or we can share our list of trusted suppliers.

5. Is there a bar or kitchen onsite?
There’s a dedicated bar area with commercial drinks fridges, while your catering team will come fully equipped.

6. Can we bring a marquee?
Yes. There’s plenty of flat spaces for a marquees around the property. We proudly partner with Matakata, who can design and install a marquee to suit your day.

7. Can we have live music or a DJ?
Yes. You’re welcome to have live music or a DJ, with simple guidelines in place to ensure a smooth and respectful experience.
