Way Back Wednesday . . .
A view of the footbridge over the Turon River at Sofala in around 1890. Originally built in Sydney, the footbridge was first used on the Fish River at O’Connell around 1860. In 1882, it was dismantled and moved to Sofala. The bridge remained in use until it was washed away by floods in 1986. After being recovered from the river, it was restored by local residents and is now located in the Joyce Pearce Memorial Park.
