Bourke Shire Council is sharing information about a petition calling on the Australian Senate to reject a proposed $5,000 annual cap on allied health services for DVA Veteran Card holders from 1 July 2027.
The petition raises concerns that the cap could make it harder for veterans with complex or ongoing health needs to access the treatment and support they require.
It also calls for the findings and recommendations of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Su***de to remain central to future veterans’ health policy.
Our veterans have given much in service to our country, and access to appropriate healthcare is an important issue for veterans, their families and communities.
