CARPENTERS WANTED

Seeking a Skilled Carpenter

We’re looking for a carpenter who takes pride in their work and enjoys building something that lasts.

Our projects are primarily hardwood builds on acreage properties, with occasional traditional timber framing and log homes. Most work is based around Pullenvale, with a standout farm build in Maleny kicking off soon.

This is unique building — it’s detailed, hands-on work with real timber.

If you’ve got a strong work ethic, high attention to detail, and want to be part of a crew building quality work in great locations, we’d like to hear from you.

Competitive rate based on experience.

Seeking an Apprentice Carpenter

Looking for an apprentice who’s keen to learn, work hard, and take pride in what they build.

You’ll be trained across all aspects of carpentry, working on hardwood projects on acreage properties — not cookie-cutter volume builds.

We also take on traditional timber framing and log home projects when they arise.

Most of our work is around Pullenvale, with a great farm build in Maleny starting soon.

This role suits someone who:
• Shows up early
• Listens and learns
• Takes pride in doing things properly

If that sounds like you, get in touch.

Reno coming along. Looking forward to seeing stone tops and red gum kitchen.
Our lack of input on socials does not mean a lack building.

📣 Opportunity for Those Who Value Quality

We’ve had an unexpected window open for new work starting from October and into early 2026.

If you’ve been planning a high-quality renovation, an heirloom-quality home, a new deck, some well-executed maintenance on your Queenslander—or a beaut manshed like the one in this picture—now’s the perfect time to get things moving, especially if you'd like progress before Christmas.

At Guildsman Traditions, we focus on doing things properly. We work with homeowners who value long-term quality, honest advice, and solid workmanship—not cutting corners.

If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear more about your project.

Spent some hours at Jondaryn Woolshed on Friday. I can’t get enough of old buildings. So many examples here of different ways to pitch a roof. Some with small diameter cypress logs. The Woolshed itself is totally amazing and in great condition. The 2nd 3rd and 4th pic was a beautiful Qlder a simpler style but lovely just the same. I wanted to build some small weekenders in this style traditionally built but current codes don’t allow it which I personally think is BS. We should be able to continue our traditions.
My view for my own business is to have my own acreage property with a lovely big barn to build our timber frames out of and other cool old buildings for different parts of the business a blacksmiths workshop etc and have open days so the public can come and experience craftsmanship and invite schools so the younger generations can experience the deep joy and satisfaction of working with your hands.

Preparing first short logs. These took longer as instead of splitting a log in half we used half logs that had split them selves on half during our hewing process. We never finished the hewn faces back then though as we weren’t sure if they were going to be useable. We were able to use them which is great but they were bowed from all the tension in the log that’s why it pulled itself in half but that meant we had a lot of material to remove from the bottom to get a straight line. They’ve come up great though.

Committed to keeping traditional crafts alive I attended a traditional stone masons class about a month ago in Byron at 2nd picture is of a quoin I made. It was hard work and slow going. Thanks Damian for sharing your knowledge. I love stone work and it compliments timber so well.

This was from the 31st Jan. Just realized it never made it way to facebook.

20 Years ago, on this very day I started my apprenticeship as a Carpenter. At 17 it was also the day I packed my belongings in garbage bags and moved out of home, escaping a toxic and violent household.

Young and keen as beans to be the very best. I had an Uncle that was a Carpenter and everyone in my family raved about how amazing this man was at his job. It was my goal to always be better than him. To be the very best. I'm not arrogant enough to say I am the best, but I will forever be in constant pursuit of perfection and therefore excellence. This industry, trade and business is a never-ending learning journey. I can keep working till I'm 90 and still not know it all. It never gets boring.

I believe Carpentry is the greatest job in the world. It is both a sport and a mental game, you get to be outside, move and use your body, have fun with mates in the process of building beautiful things for appreciative people. Life doesn't get much better.

It is far from the truth that trades are all grunt and no brain. It takes great intelligence and thought to build well.

This world is losing touch with physical jobs. But with physical work and creating something from nothing brings far more satisfaction, pride and a deeper meaning to life than any job behind a desk can ever provide.

Physical work should be revered not looked down upon. Zen Monks appreciate the importance of hard work.

This game is full of so many good people. I've been truly blessed with the most amazing clients, whom, become friends.
