Common Brisbane question. Here's what QLD law actually says:

✂️ You CAN cut overhanging branches up to the boundary line - without your neighbour's permission.

🚫 You CANNOT enter their property to do it.
📦 You must offer the cut material back to them.
⚠️ You can't cut so much that it damages or kills the tree.

If the tree is dangerous, write to your neighbour first. Keep a copy. If they don't act, you can apply to QCAT for a tree dispute order.

Anyone with a chainsaw can call themselves a 'tree guy'. A qualified arborist is a different thing entirely.

AQF stands for Australian Qualifications Framework. There are different levels:

• Level 3 - Certified arborist, can do most pruning and removal work
• Level 5 - Diploma-level, the highest vocational qualification. Trained in tree assessment, risk management, complex removals.

Our lead arborist holds AQF Level 5. That means proper training in safety, biology, and Australian Standards - not just chainsaw skills.

⏱️ Large tree with crane access: half a day to a full day
⏱️ Multiple trees / land clearing: 1-3 days

From overgrown giant to clean backyard in a single day. 🌳➡️🪚

This was a 60-foot eucalyptus in a Chermside backyard - too close to the house, dropping limbs, owner had been worried for two years.

These two terms get used like they mean the same thing. They don't.

🌳 Tree pruning: targeted, careful removal of specific branches to improve health, shape, or safety. Done by a qualified arborist following Australian Standards.

✂️ Tree lopping: cutting back large sections of a tree, often the top. Useful in some situations, but if done badly it can damage the tree, encourage weak regrowth, and even kill it.
