🍃🍃🏡Ipswich Residents 🏡🍃🍃

Ipswich households without a garden organics (GO) bin will have one delivered to their kerbside from today.

Deliveries are happening throughout June to the more than 55,000 households that do not currently have a garden organics bin, ahead of the city moving to a three-bin waste collection service from July.

Households with an existing garden organics bin are already good to go. You don’t need to do anything different.

The garden organics bins are being delivered at no additional cost to residents, with funding assistance from the State Government.

Ipswich is moving to a three-bin household waste collection service to save ratepayers money and help divert more waste from landfill.

Since 2019, the State Government waste levy means every tonne of waste taken to landfill costs council. The waste levy for 2025-2026 is $125 per tonne, and will rise in the years ahead.

Every tonne of waste we can divert from landfill saves council – and ultimately ratepayers – significantly, as well as helping the environment.

The cost of the new three-bin service will be included in the overall annual waste utility charge, similar to how the general waste and recycling kerbside collection services are currently charged.

The State Government’s mandatory levy and rising costs of managing general waste means moving to a three-bin service will cost our community less than maintaining a two-bin system.
