What are the two common causes for your paint bubbling? 🩵

1. Moisture and water bubbling - happens when moisture gets trapped behind paint.

2. Heat bubbling - happens commonly with darker paints from heat and delaminating from previous old painted surfaces.

Save this before choosing a painter.

Not all quotes are equal. Some look cheap upfront but cost far more later.

These red flags will help you spot when something isn’t quite right.

🚩 “We’ll beat any quote.”
If someone’s goal is to be the cheapest, they’re cutting corners - not prices. Good painters don’t pride themselves on being the cheapest - they pride themselves on quality, longevity, and professionalism.

🚩 Guesstimating instead of measuring.
Professionals measure properly with tape measures, laser measurers, and clear calculations.
Cheap painters eyeball it and hope for the best.

🚩 One lump sum with no detail.
A vague quote like:
“Interior repaint $10,000” tells you nothing.

There should be clear itemisation, not just a final number:
- what substrates are being painted
- how many coats you’re getting
- which products are being used
- what’s being prepped and how

If you can’t see how they got to the amount, you can’t compare it fairly.

🚩 No mention of areas included/excluded.
If the quote doesn’t clearly state which rooms, walls, ceilings, trims, or exteriors are included, it leaves a lot of room for “Oh, that wasn’t part of the quote” later.

🚩 No warranty mentioned.
If there’s no workmanship warranty written anywhere, there’s usually no intention to come back if something goes wrong.

🚩 “We can start tomorrow.”
No pipeline, no planning, no demand.
A rushed start usually means a rushed job.

🚩 No QBCC licence number or insurance details.
Without a licence number, you may have no protection for defects, disputes, or unfinished work. Without insurance, you’re exposed if something in your home is damaged or if someone is injured on your property.
