Queensland's unique lifestyle is built on more than sunshine and great weather. It's also shaped by the parks, gardens, streetscapes, sporting facilities and outdoor spaces that connect our communities and enhance everyday life.

Across the state, Landscape Queensland members design, construct and maintain the landscapes that help make Queensland one of the best places in the world to live.

Today, we celebrate our state, our communities and the people who continue to help Queensland grow.

Happy Queensland Day from Landscape Queensland

PROUD MEMBER HIGHLIGHT | Green Care Project

The architecture was bold and deliberate. Landscape Queensland Proud Member Green Care Project's response was to anchor it into something naturalistic and alive.

Working alongside Shaun Lockyer Architects on this Norman Park residence, the team created a landscape that responds to the building, the river, the adjacent bushland, and the life being lived within it. Stone in various forms became the connective thread, from granite boulders and bluestone steppers to decomposed granite paths, creating a continuous naturalistic language that grounds the structure without competing with it.

The design is anchored by remarkable feature trees, including Queensland Bottle Trees, Blue Grass Trees aged over 200 years, Dragon Trees and Olives, sourced from across the east coast and craned into a tight residential street. Cascading vines and groundcovers were deliberately designed to grow through and over the building's edges, softening the architecture from the outside in.

Delivered through a complex installation, including the 2022 flooding, the outcome speaks for itself. The result is a place that feels immersed in nature and completely at home in it.

PROUD MEMBER HIGHLIGHT | Solutions+

Landscape Queensland Proud Member Solutions+ delivered a major transformation as part of the UQ Lake Renewal and Amphitheatre project, taking on complex civil, structural and environmental works across a large-scale public realm.

The construction scope included three boardwalk structures with concrete piers, abutment walls and weir infrastructure, concrete pathways with multiple finishes, sandstone and crazy paving, retaining walls, staircases, suspended slab pavements, sandstone tiling, balustrades and maintenance access infrastructure. A fully integrated amphitheatre precinct was delivered as part of the same project.

The lake rehabilitation required significant environmental landscaping, including wetland substrate preparation across thousands of square metres, jute-stabilised batter slopes, and the establishment of over 75,000 plants across the lake edges, batters and wetland zones.

Extensive soft landscaping and naturalistic sandstone boulder treatments were woven throughout, integrating the built and environmental elements into a cohesive community space at UQ.
