Alcora.

Inspired by Mediterranean architecture and light, this design leans into warmth, elegance and sculpted form, from the gatehouse entry through to a double-height void crowned by a circular skylight.

The kitchen anchors the home with a five-metre stone island and a brick feature wall that carries through to the alfresco area, while a curved TV and living unit sets the tone from the moment you step inside. Upstairs, the master suite is a private retreat, with a concealed door leading into a walk-in robe and an ensuite finished with a freestanding bathtub beneath a skylight.

A curved staircase like this doesn't come from a standard set of plans, it's shaped, one tread at a time, through craftsmanship that can't be rushed.

In this Newport home, the timber curve catches the skylight above and carries it right down to the entry, with even the door at its base following the same line. It's the kind of detail you only notice once, and then can't stop noticing.

Sometimes the work that takes the most craftsmanship is the one that looks the simplest.

Stone, cladding, timber. On a facade, every choice answers to the one beside it.

On Lucent, our Mount Gravatt East build, that meant natural stone in a white-beige blend, soft cladding tones, and a light oak entry door, chosen to work together rather than compete.

Cascade, a designer build on a sloping Indooroopilly block with a 5-metre fall across the site.

The design steps down the slope rather than fighting it: entry and double garage at street level, living and kitchen with 3.6m ceilings on the level below opening onto an entertaining deck, and a swimming pool set into the lowest point of the block. Five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a wine cellar and 358sqm in total.

Sloping blocks come with real technical questions, fall across the site, retaining, drainage, excavation cost. Resolved early, they stop being a constraint and start shaping a better home.
