Absolutely amazing 👏

After three years of sleeping in a tent, a couple in Caboolture has finally received the keys to a safe, stable home of their own.

For years, they lived with constant fear - taking turns to sleep so one of them could watch over their few belongings, battling harsh weather, theft, violence, mental and physical health challenges, language barriers and, most recently, a breast cancer diagnosis.

When the couple finally secured housing, they still had nothing to furnish it with. Thanks to generous GIVIT donors, they received household items and essentials, including a brand‑new fridge and a phone - their first new belongings since 2012.

Caboolture Neighbourhood Centre, the organisation supporting the couple, shared: “This case shows the power of community collaboration. With the right support, people can overcome adversity and rebuild their lives.”

🚨 A Little Heartfelt Rant From Your Local Small Business Nutcases 🚨

Alright legends, gather round for a minute.

Behind every sushi roll, loaf of sourdough, morning coffee, fruit shop, butcher, bakery, and little market stall… there’s usually a tired human running on caffeine, 4 hours sleep, and pure stubbornness.

Small businesses aren’t big corporations with fancy boardrooms and bottomless bank accounts. Most of us are just regular people working ridiculous hours trying to keep the lights on and food on the table for our families.

And right now… a lot of small businesses are doing it tough.

Your favourite sushi shop 🍣
Your go-to coffee dealer ☕
That bakery making the sourdough that should honestly be illegal it’s so good 🍞
Your local fruit and veg legends 🍉

Any of these places can disappear faster than a box of hot chips at a seagull convention if we don’t support them.

Every coffee you buy, every loaf of bread you grab, every bag of fruit and veg you take home… it actually matters more than you know.

Small businesses support local farmers, local jobs, local events and local communities. Without them, towns lose their character pretty quickly.

So here’s the challenge this week:

👉 Buy local
👉 Eat local
👉 Support the people having a crack

Because when small businesses survive… communities thrive.

And from all of us small business owners who are probably currently running on caffeine, stress and blind optimism… thank you ❤️
