🌴 MOULD REMEDIATION ON K’GARI - WITH SOME NEW KIT! 🌴

Another job completed on K’gari (Fraser Island), where the combination of a tropical climate, high humidity and moisture can create ideal conditions for mould growth.

This one called for a deep decontamination clean, and Paul got to put our new PAPR – Powered Air Purifying Respirator through its paces. 👌

These units are an absolute game changer for our team when carrying out detailed mould remediation and decontamination works. The powered, filtered airflow provides a much more comfortable working environment while maintaining a high level of respiratory and facial protection, particularly important when you’re spending hours suited up completing intensive remediation works.

And judging by the photo, Paul’s pretty happy with the upgrade! 😂

A huge thanks to RSEA Safety Bundaberg for continuing to look after us and helping us source quality PPE suited to the environments we work in. When it comes to mould remediation, having the right equipment and the right PPE isn’t optional — it’s part of doing the job properly.

Of course, working on K’gari does have a few perks… 🏝️🐕🎣

Just another day at the office for Mr. Remediation on K’gari (Fraser Island).

When the job takes you off the bitumen, we don’t ask “Can we get there?”
We ask “Tyres down to what PSI?” 😎

Mould? Moisture? Water damage? Remote location?

🦠 MOULD REMEDIATION OR A QUICK FIX?

A recent job is a great example of why sometimes you need the right advice and an independent assessment.

To the naked eye, the ceilings appeared relatively clean but previous works had simply masked what was happening beneath the surface.

Our investigation went further:

🔬 Air sampling was undertaken
🧫 Surface/swab sampling was undertaken
📋 Detailed moisture & microbial assessment
🔍 Concealed areas were investigated
🧪 Samples were submitted for laboratory analysis

What we uncovered was extensive Condition 3 mould growth concealed across the majority of the ceilings, with laboratory results identifying mould species with the potential to produce mycotoxins under certain conditions.

A remediation scope was developed in line with AS/IICRC S520, then Paul and I got to work, controlled removal, HEPA cleaning and physical source removal.

⚠️ Bleaching, spraying or fogging might make mould look gone. That doesn’t mean it has been remediated.
