In Loving Memory of Juleen โค๏ธ It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Juleen, one of the founding students of Kinyu Ink Studio.
As our Master, Yumiko Sensei, fondly recalls, Juleen was there from the very beginning. It was Juleen who found the venue for our very first Student Exhibition โ the exhibition that has now grown into a beloved tradition, celebrating its 12th year this year. Without her, that first step may never have happened, and we remain deeply grateful for the path she opened for all of us.
Every single year, Juleen would say, "I won't be showing any work this time" โ and every single year, she would end up submitting more pieces than anyone else, often five or six at a time. That was Juleen: warm, charming, and wonderfully casual, someone who could light up a room and bring ease to any meeting or gathering.
She was also a truly accomplished artist, having received awards multiple times at the Tokyo exhibition of the International Sumi-e Association.
We will miss her laughter, her generosity, and her boundless enthusiasm for ink and paper. Rest peacefully, Juleen. Your brushstrokes and your spirit will remain part of our studio's story forever. ๐๏ธโค๏ธ
