Shane Bilston, a plumber with over four decades of experience, he has had the opportunity to live and work at one of Australia's permanent research stations in Antarctica.

Throughout his career, Shane has worked on various projects, from public housing maintenance to installing heating systems, to even working as a construction plumber at Uluru. He also had an opportunity to work in an Ethiopian refugee camp during the famine of 1984.

This unique experience in Antarctica proved to be an exciting adventure for him. He enjoyed the experience so much he has been back 3 times over the last few years.

🔥 Gas Heater Safety Awareness: Protect Your Home and Loved Ones 🔥

Energy Safe Victoria shared some crucial information on operating gas heaters safely, and we want to ensure more people are aware of this.

Using faulty open flued gas heaters in poorly ventilated homes can lead to toxic carbon monoxide entering your living spaces, putting you and your family at risk. To keep everyone safe:

✅ Schedule a service for your gas heater every two years by a qualified gasfitter and ask for a negative pressure check. 🔧
✅ Avoid operating exhaust fans (e.g., rangehoods or bathroom fans) simultaneously with your heater. 🚫
✅ Don't leave your gas heater on all night or when it's not needed. 🌙
✅ Consider installing a carbon monoxide alarm as a back-up to regular servicing. 🚨
✅ Never use outdoor heating appliances (like patio heaters or BBQs) indoors, as carbon monoxide is lighter than air and can be fatal. 🚫🔥
