đ± Compost education in action! We recently built a four-bay cypress macrocarpa compost system at the Footscray Community Garden and Learning Space, which is already turning excess veggies from a food program next door into marvellous soil. On the weekend, the garden hosted the Climate Adaptation Fair, and we got a chance to run a compost workshop and show the system off at the same time. Thanks to those who came along, and to the National Sustainability Festival and Friends of the Earth for organising the day!
đ ïž We loved seeing this system in actionâjust like our other compost bays built with ethically sourced, untreated Cypress Macrocarpa. Each bay has removable slats for easy turning, great ventilation for hot composting, and durable mesh to keep pesky rodents away. Think of it as the perfect recipe for transforming kitchen scraps into nutrient-rich soil!
đ At Very Edible Gardens, weâre passionate about teaching communities how to compost effectively and sustainably. Thatâs why we offer workshops for councils, community gardens, and groups who want to learn all the tips and tricksâfrom setting up a rat-proof system to turning garden scraps into incredible compost gold.
â»ïž Whether youâre planning a large public compost hub or a smaller community garden, our custom-built bay systems make it easy to manage waste, cut down on emissions, and keep gardens thriving. By harnessing hot compost methods, you can break down organic matter faster while giving your soil the ultimate boost.
