Let’s talk Small Business & Local Economy! After all small Business is a BIG DEAL!
I was raised in a single income family supported solely by my father’s small Barber Shop business in Deception Bay
I have tremendous respect for those in our community who have dedicated their lives to providing local products and services to their fellow residents in Division 2.
This week I made it my mission to meet Division 2 small business owners and speak with them about how to ensure our local economy thrives.
Small family run local business is the backbone of Moreton Bay. They provide employment for many residents, provide lower cost services for residents and help to shape our great region.
However there’s more we can do. Division 2 is unique in its mix of rural residential, industry and commercial properties that are ripe for locals to embark on everything from small home based businesses right through to large international companies grown right here in the heart of Moreton Bay.
I want to grow this region's economy starting right here at our front door.
I will advocate to look at providing rate discounts for new businesses and for Council to change their procurement policy to add extra weighting to Moreton Bay Businesses in the tender process. This will not only save council money by using local business but also grow the local economy.
