Sometimes jobs call for a little bit of problem solving, like this project where a concrete sleeper wall needed to be tied in with a sandstone retaining wall.

The sandstone blocks were niched to fit in front of the concrete sleeper post to prevent gravel and back filling to fall through the join.

The weather hasn't been the kindest to us lately, however we have managed to start a job at Kilcoy collaborating with our mates at TerrainX Landscapes again to complete a few retaining walls and earthworks.

We're prepping a concrete sleeper retaining wall just over 2m high here, hence the need for our auger extension (not sure I've ever seen this one in action!) to get the required post depth.

Much more to come on this job with a sandstone retaining wall and another concrete sleeper retaining wall as well as general earthworks.

Flashback Friday brings us back to the beginning of the covid era... we understand not everyone wants to remember this time, but we were still able to complete some masterpiece walls for our customers.

From fallen bricks to beautiful sandstone — a Pinjarra Hills transformation 🪨
This one's all about the before and after. A client in Pinjarra Hills had a brick retaining wall that had completely failed, with the area around it becoming overgrown and neglected.
We demolished the old wall, cleared the site, and replaced it with a natural sandstone block retaining wall (varying between 2–3 blocks high to follow the slope) plus a set of 6 diamond cut steps.
What was once a forgotten corner of the property is now clean, retained, and ready for use.

We're incredibly proud to share this stunning transformation in Upper Kedron - one of our most challenging and rewarding projects to date!

The Challenge:
A steeply sloping block descending into beautiful native Australian forest. Without structural intervention, this bushland would remain completely inaccessible. Plus, the only way to access the site? Through the neighbouring cattle farm! 🐄

What We Created:
✨ Multiple A-Grade sandstone block retaining walls creating tiered platforms
✨ Two sets of diamond sawn sandstone steps
✨ A magnificent main stairway with 6 steps, each an impressive 1800mm wide (that's 1.8 metres!)
✨ Direct, safe access from the home down to the native forest

The main stairway alone used 18 individual sandstone blocks - three 600mm blocks end-to-end for each of the six 1800mm-wide steps. The scale and craftsmanship really shine in the video and the images in the project write-up om our website!

The structural work has been beautifully complemented by landscaping from our friends at TerrainX Landscapes, creating a seamless integration between the built environment and the natural bushland.

From inaccessible slope to stunning multi-level outdoor spaces with direct forest access - this is what's possible when you combine engineering expertise with quality craftsmanship.

Major Project Complete: Everton Park Church/School Campus Expansion

We're proud to share our role in this significant community project - a substantial A-Grade sandstone block retaining wall supporting the expansion of a Church/School campus in Everton Park!

The Project:
As part of an ambitious campus expansion, multiple private properties along the northern boundary were acquired and progressively demolished to create space for:
⚽ An expanded main sporting field
🚗 A new car parking area with dedicated street access

The Challenge:
The northern boundary sits nearly 4 METRES higher than the sporting field level! Our retaining wall manages this significant elevation difference while creating clearly defined, functional spaces.

What We Built:
✨ A-Grade sandstone block retaining wall
✨ Defines the edge between car park and sporting field
✨ Manages nearly 4m height difference at maximum point
✨ Supports the gently sloping car park area
✨ Creates safe boundaries for the sporting field

This is institutional-grade construction built to serve generations of students and community members. The A-Grade sandstone provides the structural integrity needed for this height while creating an attractive boundary feature that complements the campus environment.
