Sky Farm stands as a premier example of regenerative living. By utilising high-performance natural materials like hempcrete for the walls of our director Michael Leung’s residence, we’ve achieved a home that truly breathes. This carbon-sequestering material offers a soft, monolithic aesthetic while ensuring internal temperatures remain stable throughout the changing seasons of the Byron hinterland.

It is a home designed to support the health of its inhabitants and the landscape alike, a testament to what is possible when design and ecology are unified.

A home should be more than a shelter; it is a sanctuary for the senses. At BEA, we consider how natural light, air quality, and honest materials impact your daily wellbeing and rhythm of life. By eliminating synthetic chemicals and focusing on vapour-permeable solutions, we ensure the indoor air is as fresh as the environment outside.

Designing spaces that don't just look good, but make you feel good, allowing for a deeper connection to the landscape and a more intentional way of living.

Kingfisher House was designed with a focus on the wellbeing of its inhabitants. Through strategic orientation and the prioritisation of cross-ventilation, we’ve created a space that celebrates natural light and healthy airflow. Architecture that supports life in its purest form.

Our commercial projects are a benchmark for mindful design. We focus on creating vibrant, yet relaxed atmospheres that prioritise natural materials and a seamless connection to the landscape.

From boutique hotels to coastal retreats, we use hempcrete and sustainably sourced hardwoods to create sanctuaries that breathe. This intentional fluidity allows for constant airflow and a deeper sense of presence within the environment.

We build for the future, not just for the moment. Our commitment is to create architecture that remains functional and beautiful for decades, leaving the interior cool during the peaks of the Byron summer.

Bird Song is a deliberate celebration of its forest setting. By utilising sustainably sourced hardwoods and expansive glazing, we’ve created a residence that feels entirely immersed in its surroundings, blurring the line between the internal retreat and the life of the trees.

This architectural response focuses on creating a tactile, warm environment that feels grounded and connected to the landscape. The use of natural timber throughout the home provides a sense of quiet sophistication, ensuring the structure remains a soulful presence within the Byron hinterland for years to come.

A space where the architecture and the environment exist in a constant, natural dialogue.

Passive solar design is our silent collaborator. By carefully calculating eaves and window orientations, we ensure our homes are naturally warmed in winter and shaded in summer. It is a technical precision that results in effortless comfort and reduced energy reliance.

Architecture should not isolate us from the elements; it should invite them in. By prioritising expansive openings and recessed tracks, we dissolve the boundary between the internal sanctuary and the surrounding landscape. This intentional fluidity allows for constant, natural airflow and a deeper sense of presence within the environment, ensuring the home breathes alongside its inhabitants.

It is a design logic that moves beyond aesthetics, focusing on the lived experience of the site, where the transition from the hinterland breeze to the quiet of the interior is seamless and restorative.

True sustainability is measured in generations. We consciously choose materials like stone, raw timber, and earth not just for their low environmental impact, but because they possess a timeless aesthetic that gains character as it ages. Our projects are designed to be resilient, to withstand the harsh Australian elements while remaining functional and beautiful for decades to come. By focusing on the honest expression of natural materials, we create dwellings that feel grounded and permanent.

Beyond aesthetics, a kitchen should be a contributor to a healthy home.

Our designs prioritise honest materials, reclaimed timber, stone, and lime renders, to create spaces that are as functional as they are chemically inert. By utilising breathable wall systems and materials with low embodied energy, we ensure the heart of the home remains resistant to mould and toxins, fostering an indoor environment that supports your well-being.

A design that doesn't impose, but rather celebrates the organic textures and longevity of natural elements.
