Great to see Mission Beach Town Centre Revitalisation featured by StreetChat. Landplan Landscape Architecture was proud to lead the landscape architectural design for this project with Cassowary Coast Regional Council, helping shape a public realm that feels distinctly Mission Beach.

The design draws on the meeting of rainforest and coast, with the cassowary-inspired colour palette and public realm elements helping tell a local story through the space.

A rewarding project to be part of.

Landplan Landscape Architecture revitalisation reconnects Mission Beach village to its coastline with cassowary-inspired design.

Project briefing and site visits with the LANDPLAN team today.

Spending time on site is where the real clarity happens — aligning vision, refining details, and making sure every element responds to the landscape and client brief. These early conversations and walk-throughs set the tone for everything that follows.

Looking forward to seeing this one take shape.

Loved this ABC News story about artist Mike Hewson’s incredible underground playground — turning raw concrete into a world of discovery.

A great reminder that play doesn’t just happen on the surface!

At Landplan, we love seeing ideas like this that challenge how we experience our surroundings and spark imagination in unexpected places.

This designer's "risky playgrounds" are often divisive. His latest is four storeys underground in a former World War II oil tank.

Love seeing engaging play where children interact with the natural environment and are learning through play.

Warru Warru Playground by

Warru Warru Playground is located at the St Therese’s Primary School in the southern suburbs of Cairns. It is a well vegetated linear space wedged between the school's buildings and its property boundary. 'Warru Warru' which means Group of Children was named by Hendrick (Henry) Fourmile, one of the traditional elders of Cairns (Gimuy Walubara Yidinji). 'Warrru Warru - Our Nature Playground is planted in the soil of our local Indigenous forebears, among the dreams of those passed and in the hope of our future efforts to respect and protect our common home - Mother Earth'.

You can vote for this project via the AILA QLD People’s Choice Award voting link in our bio.
