Before and after photos of a job we just finished at Maleny. We paved the back area and under clothes line and made a dry creek bed to catch the run off around the yard and work as a garden feature as well. Also laid a bit of turf to finish it off nice and neatly.

A 1.4m structural hardwood sleeper retaining wall we built for a customer in Nambour. As the wall was over 1m and there for classified as a structural retaining wall it needed to be built a lot stronger than a garden retaining wall under 1m. We used 200mmx100mm posts which were concreted into holes 1.8m deep x 450mm round. Spacing the posts at 1.2m apart. We used 200mmx75mm hardwood sleepers for the wales to give the wall extra strength and longevity, instead of using 200mmx50mm sleepers that most walls are built with. We then installed the existing strip drain and pavers that had to be removed to do the job.

This project the customer wanted an area they could look at and enjoy while sitting & relaxing in there outside entertaining area having a drink or BBQ etc. They choose to have artificial grass so they didn't have to maintain real grass. The raised garden was built by first using 200x50 sleepers fixed to posts concreted into the ground to make the edge sturdy, then we fastened composite decking to the front and top faces of the sleepers to give the gardens a really classy finish. For the paved area where you can see the three water features are sitting on, we used a natural granite paver call Coconut Ice. The screens where put in for privacy from the neighbours and to cover the fence. They also made the water features stand out more as the feature of the back yard.
