𝗬𝗔𝗥𝗔 recently welcomed a group of Indigenous students from Clontarf Academy partner schools in Griffith, Tumut and Albury to learn more about YARA, civil construction and the opportunities that exist across the industry after school.

The students met with Andy, Lach and Matt to hear about the work being delivered through YARA and COMPLEX, before visiting the Gungahlin Tennis Centre project site for a hands on look at construction in action.

On site, they had the opportunity to see machinery up close, meet the team and gain insight into the different pathways and careers available across the civil construction sector.

Experiences like this are important. They create connection, open conversations and help young people see what is possible for their future.

𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

More than a decade after its construction, the National Portrait Gallery required urgent remediation works to address waterproofing failures that threatened both the building’s integrity and its valuable artworks. YARA was engaged to deliver Stage 2 Major Works, following the successful completion of Stage 1 Investigation Works.

Scope of works included:

✔️ Replacement of the failed waterproof membrane at the podium and entrance, ensuring long-term protection.

✔️ Structural concrete remediation to restore and strengthen key building elements.

✔️ Installation of an innovative floating aluminium formwork system, mitigating the risk of membrane damage and enhancing the contrast of polished concrete toppings.

✔️ Replacement of window units and timber flooring throughout the galleries.

✔️ Complex artwork lifts, balustrade replacements, mobile display wall construction, and architectural lighting upgrades.

This project required precision, technical expertise, and innovative construction solutions to safeguard one of Australia’s most significant cultural landmarks while ensuring minimal disruption to its operations.

YARA has had the pleasure of hosting friends and assocaites sideline pre Brumbies matches during the 2026 season. A unique opportunity bringing people together around professional rugby where the conversations are free and unity is built. YARA's commitment to mob through rugby unions Indigenous Pathways Programs continues in 2027 and we look forward to identifying and unveling more talent and supporting them in their sport, education, employment and personal family journeys through life.

We’re proud to support the First Nations National 7s Immersion Program alongside the Australian Rugby Foundation and Rugby Australia.

Backing initiatives that grow First Nations participation, access and visibility is close to who we are. This program gives emerging First Nations athletes real exposure to elite training, high performance development and national pathways within Rugby Australia’s Sevens environments, opening doors and creating opportunities for the next generation.

Investing in our people is what drives us. We’re honoured to play a part.

The Australian Rugby Foundation is proud to support initiatives helping increase First Nations participation, access and visibility across the game.

Thanks to the support of Yara Co, emerging players have been provided the opportunity to immerse themselves within Rugby Australia’s national Sevens environments through the First Nations National 7s Immersion Program.

The initiative helps provide exposure to elite training, high performance development and national rugby pathways for emerging First Nations athletes.

We are proud to support the Indigenous Pathways Program delivered by ACT & SNSW Rugby Union.

Congratulations to all athletes selected in what is the largest cohort to date. This program provides an incredible opportunity to train in a high-performance environment, connect with the Brumbies, and experience elite rugby during Indigenous Round.

We’re excited to see the continued growth of this program and the opportunities it creates for First Nations athletes.

The ACT & SNSW RU would like to congratulate and welcome the following athletes who have been selected in the Indigenous Pathways Program.

With the help of Rugby Australia First Nations Rugby Manager, Matthew Sonter, and our team in the Southern Inland Rugby Union region, this is the largest cohort that we have put together.

The athletes will take part in training at Brumbies HQ with high-performance staff, explore Canberra, and meet with players from ACT Brumbies Women’s and Men’s teams.

They will also have the opportunity to watch both teams play their respective matches in our Indigenous Round fixtures on Saturday. To mark the occasion, both teams will be wearing the club's 2026 Indigenous jersey.

We are very pleased to welcome this group into the Brumbies family and excited to see the growth of this program.
