Safety upgrade, Colonel style 🫡🔨

After the owner had an unfortunate tumble off the stairs, it was definitely time to make this entry a little more user-friendly.

New wire balustrade with Merbau tops and handrails installed to give him something solid to hold onto — while still keeping the deck looking schmick.

A simple upgrade, but one that’ll hopefully keep the old fella upright and on the stairs where he belongs!
It was a pleasure working with this client and I hope that he can finally relax on deck!

And that's a wrap! 🚿🔨

Six weeks, two bathrooms, several trailer loads to the tip, and enough termite damage to make a pest controller rub his hands together.

What started as "we've got a couple of leaks" quickly turned into an archaeological dig. Every time something came off, we found another surprise. Apparently the termites had moved in years ago and forgot to tell the owners. 🐜

In the end, there wasn't much worth saving. The termites had a crack at almost everything, so we gave them an eviction notice and started fresh.

💥 Main bathroom extended for a bigger shower and vanity
💥 Floor-to-ceiling tiles throughout
💥 Zero shortcuts. Zero band-aids. Zero "she'll be right"

Honestly, the only original things left are the windows… and I reckon the termites were halfway through filling out the paperwork on those too.

These bathrooms are now ready for years of family memories, long hot showers, and absolutely no hidden wildlife behind the walls.

Turns out you can't tile over termites. Who knew? 😂

If your bathroom "just needs a refresh", be warned… lipstick on a pig still leaves you with a pig. Sometimes you've got to drag the whole thing out behind the shed and start again.

The Colonel doesn't do cover-ups. We fix ugly properly. 🪖

Termite damage out, new frame in, ceiling raised 50mm back to correct height.

And that’s a wrap!

This one wasn’t just a deck… this was a full lap around the property with a pit stop by the pool 🏁

We’re talking:
• Over 1300 lineal metres of 140mm merbau (yep… she goes forever)
• 6500 decking screws… every single one pre-drilled 😅
• 400 lineal metres of framing timber holding it all together
• 1000 batten screws
• 4000 nails fired in
• 300 hangers keeping everything tight

Basically… if Bunnings had a loyalty program for screws, I’d own the joint by now.

Countless hours, plenty of sweat, a few choice words along the way… but she came up an absolute weapon 🔥

Now it’s ready for pool days, BBQs, and a lifetime of “don’t scratch the deck!” warnings.

Gone a bit quiet on here… turns out building decks doesn’t leave much time for posting about them 😏

Here’s a few progress shots of an absolute unit of a deck we’ve got on the go. This thing’s wrapping around the house and still has a big front section to come — basically turning the whole yard into a no-mow zone.

Client said they wanted less grass… so we’re absolutely sending it and deleting the lawn altogether 🍻

Stay tuned — this one’s gonna be a weapon when it’s done.
