Status of Landscaping Works

In very good news for our industry, and despite the extension of the lockdown, it has been announced that more outdoor workers – including landscapers – are able to return to work from 11.59pm Thursday 3rd June – effectively Friday June 4th.

In a meeting with the DJPR held late this afternoon we can advise that up to 5 people and 1 supervisor can be on site, with:

- Workers wearing face masks (using common sense, if the work requires extreme effort, remove mask and put it back on when exertion is lowered)
- Physical distancing to be maintained at all times
- QR code check-in for outdoor sites. This is not mandated but in terms of best practice LVML recommends all Members register for the Services Victoria app or maintain a manual register of all staff on a site, plus all delivery drivers, or other people who drop in to site even for a minute. This will assist with contact tracing should it be needed.

The Acting Premier’s Table of Restrictions is located here, but does not shed a lot of light on details: https://www.premier.vic.gov.au/statement-acting-premier-2
We hope to obtain further clarity overnight.

For other Member categories our best advice right now is as follows:

Admin Staff
Encouraged to work from home if possible. It is suggested meetings with team, clients or construction crews are held over Zoom/Skype, etc.

Landscape Designers/Architects
Encouraged to work from home if possible. It is suggested meetings with clients or construction crews are held over Zoom/Skype, etc.

Commercial Maintenance
Commercial maintenance can continue as usual.

Residential Maintenance
Works may commence on occupied sites from Friday 4th June, 2021.

Supplier Members
Supply to sites that are operational may continue. Retail sales should be operated under Click & Collect arrangements.

If you are impacted by the lockdown, please note that Business grants are now doubled for eligible businesses (up to $5k) - applications will open tomorrow so people can apply once for the two sets of grants (2 x $2500) and will be open till June 24th.

Other aspects to note
In any situation where Members continue to work we remind you of the need to comply with social distancing and hygiene requirements.
Rules follow you - so if you are Metro and need to visit a Regional site you can do so but must make every effort to minimise contact with others.
_____

Is it essential that businesses continue to maintain their record keeping requirements for contact tracing purposes and continue to follow their CovidSafe Plan.

You may use a QR code service provider such as the Victorian Service Victoria App or of course manual records.

A worker permit will not be required during the 7-day lockdown.
Download and display the signage available to remind people of the need to check in, and other safety measures. There is also LVML branded site signage available on this COVID Business Advice page.

Remember, if you or your workers have even mild COVID-19 symptoms, please get tested. Every test helps keep Victorians safe.

Visit coronavirus.vic.gov.au for more information or call Business Victoria on 13 22 15.
