Over the moon to have received an award from for our work on Quarry House 🏆

It was a pleasure collaborating with Block Three Architects on this Paragraph 84 scheme, which received planning approval last year. The project sees a new home carefully embedded into the rock slope of an existing limestone quarry — a true fusion of architecture and landscape.

Together, we embraced the challenges of the site to create a beautiful home and garden carved into the hillside, responding sensitively to both setting and sustainability. We’re thrilled with the judges’ feedback and had a fantastic evening celebrating at awards.

“A well-planned and thoughtful scheme, showing a strong understanding of site analysis and sustainability. Clever design and a good environmental approach make this an impressive and considered garden”

“It’s all in the detail.”
There’s a quiet richness in the detail of a well-designed garden — from the subtle tones and textures of the hard materials to the layered colour, texture and movement of the planting palette.
A thoughtfully composed garden offers beauty in every season; the colours and focus shift through the year and its character deepens as it grows, matures and gently transforms.

A wonderful visit to our Herefordshire garden last week — almost a year since installation, and the planting has really settled into the wider landscape.

There’s still plenty of colour from verbena, roses, geraniums and anemones, while the grasses are glowing against the rich autumn hues of the surrounding trees.

We were lucky to inherit a beautiful network of mature trees on site — now providing a stunning backdrop to the new layers of planting and the hard landscaped areas around the house.

It’s so rewarding to see a garden begin to feel truly at home in its setting.

🏆 We are thrilled to share that Quarry House has been nominated for a award — marking our third consecutive year being recognised by this prestigious award!

Designed as a high-quality replacement dwelling, the project tackles the unique challenges of an abandoned limestone quarry site. By embracing the steep topography, the design weaves in a network of walkways and outdoor spaces that both respond to and celebrate the site’s rich geological history.

The house and gardens are carefully integrated into the quarry slopes, using materials sourced directly from the site to craft a characterful and enduring home.

The project was brought forward through the Paragraph 84 planning route, with permission granted in mid-2025.

We are incredibly proud of the recognition Quarry House is receiving. It was a pleasure to collaborate with Block 3 Architects on this project, and we’re truly grateful to everyone who has supported its journey.

Silver spade deployed for the breaking ground ceremony at Southside in Hereford! EG Carter commenced the groundwork's last week. The project will deliver a new clubhouse for Belmont Wanderers FC designed Arbor Architects alongside new sport facilities and a landscape design that brings them all together. Proposals include new, native woodland creation, large areas of wildflower meadow, new pathways leading to pitches and a generous terrace to enjoy watching matches with refreshments in hand. We have enjoyed working with the team over the past year and look forward to it coming together. 3D views by Arbor.

We are very proud to have been nominated at the 2025 awards for our project Oxygen House. Although we didn’t win this year it is an honour to have the work recognised and worthy of nomination.

Plan were appointed by Grenadier Estates as part of multidisciplinary design team to transform the business park at Oxygen House to create an exemplar model for sustainable work places of the future.

The scheme will deliver a new biodiverse solar array on an existing slope to the north of Oxygen House, a new carpark with solar car ports for electric vehicle charging to the south and, where the existing car park sits adjacent to the building, a new productive garden with spaces for work, rest and exercise with connected habitats and food production.

The regenerative led design of the garden uses principles of permaculture for its creation and long term management. This involves sustainable sourcing of construction materials, minimising intrusive construction techniques, minimising carbon intensive materials, employing a long term, ecology led planting scheme and considering how maintenance can be part of a regenerative circular system.

The concept sought to create an integrated living system where nature and people fulfil equal roles for the benefit of both. This will create an exemplar workplace that, through its quality and appeal, gives people a reason to work together in-person – somewhere people actually want to be!

We have been developing visuals for the Parkhouse Street development which is currently paused mid-way through its construction. The scheme delivers 109 new homes to Southwark along with commercial workspace at ground level. The building designed by ranges from 6 to 11 storeys with extensive landscape at ground level, shared roof gardens higher up and green roofs at the very top. We were appointed to develop the technical design which included redesigning the play area and roof gardens. The play area uses naturalistic play equipment from with lush and vibrant planting to create a trail through a woodland edge. The roof gardens give residents space to relax in the open air with views across Camberwell and Burgess Park. New tree planting provides valuable shade and lots of pollinator friendly perennials provide a food source for wildlife. Woodland style planting at ground level extends foraging habitat for a variety of bugs and small mammals.

Fantastic to see the planting maturing in one of our more ‘exotic’ London gardens. The client requested a Koi Carp pond and rocky waterfall with suspended deck and bridge leading to a hidden summer house.

It was wonderful to spend a sunny afternoon last week at one of our completed gardens, assessing the progress of the planting and observing how the colours and textures shift with the arrival of autumn. We’re offering recommendations to our client and their gardener on how to maintain a year-round display. This is also a great time to consider topping up spring bulbs which will bring a burst of colour and life early in the year.

We have been developing up some CGIs for one of our gardens in Herefordshire to help convey the character of the proposed planting scheme and how planting can really elevate the new hard landscape areas. While they have their limits, CGIs are useful to show colour palette, and approximate form and massing of the planting scheme at maturity. We are looking forward to planting the scheme in the coming weeks!

We have been busy developing the design for the garden and grounds of a new Paragraph 84 house in Shropshire. The house will be built into the side of an old limestone quarry slowly being reclaimed by nature. The living spaces of the garden will be nestled into nooks and crannies left by the quarry workers in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Lots of site-won material to use helping to reduce the carbon footprint of the build. Wider enhancements focus on lending nature a helping hand to establish priority habitats. Paragraph 84 homes demand a high standard of design.
