Recent Project – Wanaaring NSW

Another remote project nearing completion for JCM Carpentry Co with works completed at both the station homestead and Shearers’ Quarters.

Homestead – Ensuite Renovation

The existing ensuite was stripped back and rebuilt after significant water damage was discovered around the original shower area.

Works included repairs to the affected floor structure and framing, new wall and floor linings, waterproofing, new tiled shower base and walls, floor tiling throughout, new shower screen, toilet installation and associated carpentry and finishing works.

The ensuite is almost complete, with the client-supplied vanity unfortunately not arriving in time for this trip. We'll be returning when we're next working in the region to install the vanity, complete the remaining skirt tiles and put the final finishing touches on the room.

Shearers’ Quarters – Window Upgrades

We also replaced the ageing timber windows throughout the Shearers’ Quarters with new aluminium sliding windows and flyscreens.

Several openings were modified to allow the new windows to sit above the existing wall-mounted air conditioners, including new framing, infills, flashings, weatherproofing, reveals and architraves.

A great improvement to the functionality, weatherproofing and overall appearance of the old quarters.

Another Project Completed by JCM Carpentry Co. 🔨

This recent project involved the construction of a steel frame, composite deck extension around an existing above-ground pool, including a new privacy screen wall to improve functionality, comfort and privacy for the homeowners.

The deck extension was carefully extended to tie seamlessly into the existing decking structure, creating a much larger outdoor living area around the pool and entertaining space.

We also completed the er****on of a new steel-framed carport, providing practical all-weather vehicle protection while complementing the existing home and surroundings.

This project involved cutting in and installing 2 new aluminium windows into an existing home, along with bringing the wall system up to a far better standard during the process.

The existing wall had no insulation installed, so while the cladding was opened up we installed new Earthwool insulation batts throughout to improve thermal performance and comfort inside the home.

All window openings were properly reframed with new timber reveals made to suit the aluminium windows, followed by full compliant flashing and weatherproof detailing to current NCC requirements.

To finish it off, all wall wrap joins and penetrations were fully sealed using Vapourseal tape to ensure a properly wrapped and weather-sealed building envelope.

A job like this is about far more than just fitting windows — it’s about doing the work properly behind the scenes so the house performs and lasts long term.
