A warmer winter means swimming season and green pools could arrive sooner this year.
NSW is tracking warmer than usual this winter, with above-average sea temps off the coast and a weather pattern keeping things drier and milder than normal.
Great news if you're dreaming of an early dip. Not so great news for your pool.
Algae doesn't check the calendar, it responds to water temperature. So if the water's warming up ahead of schedule, the conditions for algae growth arrive ahead of schedule too.
A pool that's been sitting untested over winter can go green well before you're ready to jump back in.
The fix is simple: don't wait for "official" pool season to start testing and balancing again. Getting ahead of it now means you're swimming sooner, not scrubbing algae off the walls.
